Another fantastic walk smashed!

The weather, once again, played nicely for us and we had a beautiful stroll along the coastline of Tankerton. Nature came out to play too - with lots of caterpillars, birds, and a friendly lizard all coming to say hi 👋🏻

Thanks again to all that came - hope to see you again soon!

Just a week away until our upcoming walk!

The start time of the walk is 11am on Saturday 16th May, meeting at Tower Tea Gardens ☕️

Trains coming from Dover/Canterbury will need to change trains at Faversham, in which it will arrive at 10:39. Trains coming from Ramsgate will directly take you to Whitstable station and will arrive at either 10:27 or 10:50 🚂

There is also plenty of parking available along Tower Hill/Marine Parade that is also free 😊

🌿🏳️‍🌈 Our Next Q***r Walks Event! 🏳️‍🌈🌿

This relaxed social walk will take us through the scenic coastal path along Tankerton Beach. As part of this walk we will be venturing through local nature reserves and paths between Whitstable and Herne Bay!

This walk is especially accessible as it will be along the paved promenade!

📍 Starting point: Tower Tea Gardens. There are lots of free car parking spaces along Marine Parade and is within a short walking distance from Whitstable train station 🚉

💧First stop: Swalecliffe Brook where you can view some local wildlife such as wading birds

🥤 Second stop: Hampton Inn and Pier for a mid-point drink

🚤 Third stop: Whitstable Harbour to browse the shops at whatever speed suits you

The important bits:

📅 Date: Saturday 16th May

🥾 Distance: ~6 miles

⏱ Time: Around 2 hours and 30mins walking at a relaxed pace and to account for the short break at the midpoint

Please note: whilst this walk will be along the paved promenade, it’s still recommended to bring appropriate footwear for a medium length walk

Another great walk smashed!

Dover was a fun experience exploring the Western Heights old structures and beautiful wildscapes!

Just a week away until our upcoming walk!

The start time of the walk is 11am on Saturday 18th April, meeting at Dover Priory Station 🚂

A train replacement bus is running for this date on all lines to Dover. The bus departing Canterbury at 09:49 and arriving in Dover at 10:55. If travelling from Folkestone the bus departs at 10:13 and arrives at 10:33. If travelling from Sandwich, the bus departs at 09:56 and arrives at 10:24.

🌿🏳️‍🌈 Our Next Q***r Walks Event! 🏳️‍🌈🌿

This relaxed social walk will take us through the scenic green space around Dover’s Western Heights. As part of this walk we will be venturing through local nature reserves and the local Citadel!

📍 Starting point: Dover Station (the station has direct links from Ashford, Canterbury, and Thanet, and there is local parking available also)

🏔️ First stop: Western Heights

🏛️ Second stop: Knights Templar Church Ruins

🚶🏻 Third stop: Citadel Bunkers Walk

🏰 Forth stop: The Dover Citadel

🍰 Final stop: Citadel Welcome Centre Cafe (for anyone who wants to can grab a drink or bite to eat before heading home)

The important bits:

📅 Date: Saturday 18th April

🥾 Distance: ~4.5 miles

⏱ Time: Around 2 hours walking at a relaxed pace

Please note: there are some countryside paths, so they may be muddy or uneven, so a good pair of walking shoes are recommended!

Just over a week away until our first walk!

The start time of the walk is 11am on Saturday 21st March, meeting at Bekesbourne Station 🚂

A train from Canterbury arrives at the station at 10:45am, whilst the train from Dover arrives at 10:42am for those of you using public transport 😊

🌿🏳️‍🌈 Our First Q***r Walks Event! 🏳️‍🌈🌿

This relaxed social walk will take us through the beautiful countryside around Bekesbourne, including orchards, woodland paths, and even a chance to spot some animals along the way.

📍 Starting point: Bekesbourne Station (the station has direct links from Dover and London Victoria, and there is limited parking available also)

☕ First stop: Woolton Farm (optional coffee stop before we begin)

🐘 Second stop: Howlett’s Zoo public footpath (there are opportunities to view some of the animals from this footpath - including elephants!

🚶🏻 Third stop: Bekesbourne’s Tetrahedron Field (interesting for those that love history)

🍰 Final stop: Mama Feelgoods (for anyone who wants to can grab a drink or bite to eat before heading home)

⏱ Time: Around 2 hours walking at a relaxed pace

🌿 Welcome to Q***r Walks Kent 🏳️‍🌈

Q***r Walks Kent is a new LGBTQ+ walking group bringing people together through nature across East Kent

Ultimately, it’s all about the fresh air, good company, and relaxed walks in beautiful places we have here in Kent 🌳

This group is for anyone in the q***r community (LGBTQ+ and allies) who wants to meet new people, explore nature together, and get outdoors in a friendly space 🌿

Our walks will be relaxed and social, with no pressure or no hiking experience required - just a good attitude and pair of boots 🥾

We’ll be organising regular walks around East Kent (Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, and Thanet), so there will be a lot of exploring to do 🧭
