2026-27 Rents are now due

Dear Gardener,
Despite significant challenges to our operating costs for goods and services, through careful planning and management of our expenditure, we are pleased to confirm that our annual rents for the 2026-27 season will be maintained at £30.
Payment can be made during our shop opening hours, 10am-12pm each weekend, commencing Saturday 25 April and the deadline for payments will be Sunday 31 May. Payment may be made by cash or card and PLEASE ensure you bring your rent book, so it can be updated. If you have lost your rent book, a replacement can be purchased for £3.
Thank you for your continued support
Best Wishes
BAA Committee

AGM Information & Proposals.
As you probably already know, it is approaching AGM time again and this years meeting is booked to start at 10am on Sunday 19th April at the Beighton Lifestyle Centre. The meeting will close promptly at 12noon (at the latest) and all full Association Members (first named plot holder on your rent book) are welcome to attend with up to one additional guest. Please note, to vote, you MUST bring your green rent book with you to the meeting as this will need to be held up to register your vote, this ensures Guests cannot vote. Please note, the annual rents will be decided at this meeting but cannot be paid until the following Saturday at the allotment shop (i.e. from Saturday 25th April). All rents MUST then be paid by Sunday 31st May at the latest.

As usual, the committee will consider member proposals to be brought up for inclusion into the meeting. The last date for submissions is midday on Saturday 28th March as the agenda for the meeting will be finalised the following day and sent out on Sunday 29th March to all members who have given us their email, it will also be posted on the Members WhatsApp group, and will also appear on the Car Park notice board the following day (Monday 30th March). Proposals must be made by email to [email protected]

If you would like to make a proposal at the AGM, it must be seconded by at least one other full member of the Association and you, as the proposer must make the proposal to the meeting in person.

IBC's - Limited Availability.
Hello all.
We have managed to obtain 12 IBC’s (the large cube water butts), which will be available for sale to members for £40 each. These are already on site and are empty, but some may still contain trace amounts of food grade citric acid. This is non-toxic and you can choose to either rinse out the IBC beforehand, or just fill it to completely dilute down any remnants.
They come with a main shut off valve, but you may wish to purchase a tap, or hosepipe adaptor, depending on how you plan to use it.
At this time, we are limiting sales to one per plot holder, to distribute these as fairly as possible, but if we are able to obtain further supplies, we can offer them to people who would like more than one.
If you would like to make a purchase, please contact Richard Longden on our WhatsApp group or if you are a plot holder without WhatsApp, please email us at [email protected] so we can arrange for you to collect, commencing this weekend. Thank you.

Allotment Shop
Hello all. We’re pleased to advise the ‘new’ allotment shop will be opening this forthcoming weekend (24th & 25th January). Our seed potatoes have arrived and the varieties we have on sale are:
First Earlies - Caledonian pearl, Francis, Lady Christl and Rocket
Second Earlies - Charlotte, Jazzy, Kestrel and Maris Peer
Main Crop - Cara, King Edward, Maris Piper and Picasso
All priced at £3.50 per 2kg bag (same price as 2025)
We also have two popular varieties of spring planting onion sets available - Stuttgarter and Turbo, both priced at £1.50 per 250g bag
Lastly we have White Vigour Garlic bulbs, a French soft neck variety, priced at £1 per bulb.
The shop is always busy for the first week of potato sales so for this weekend we will be running a one way system, please enter through the meeting room where you can find all the potatoes laid out and then pay for them at the shop counter & don't forget your potato fertiliser before you pay!

Hi all. Several members have been asking about this years bonfire 🔥 . We will be having this on plot A21, as I’ve mentioned in an earlier post and will be lit on Wednesday 5th November. If you are ‘local’ to plot A21, please put your stuff for burning straight on the bonfire. If you are on any other lane and it is more convenient for you, please put your stuff for burning in the wood compound in the main car park. Please make sure that you are only bring stuff to burn that is wood, timber, vegetation from your plot, or any organic combustible material. PLEASE DO NOT bring any plastics, metals, roofing felt…….. or uPVC window frames!
Regrettably, the bonfire is not a social event, so please don’t expect fireworks 🧨 , toffee apples 🍎, etc. It’s a chance for us to get rid of our wood waste and the rubbish left in our ‘usable timber’ compound over the year. 😁👍🏻
The cutoff time for bringing your stuff to the wood compound is Sunday 2nd November 5pm
The cutoff time for bringing directly to the bonfire is Wednesday 5th November 5pm
Thanks

BAA XMAS Meal.
With the nights drawing in & colder days ahead, the Beighton Allotments Christmas meal is a great way to catch up with friends you'll hardly see until next February!
This years luch has now been booked for Saturday 13th December @ 12:30pm at the Elmwood Farm Pub.
If you would like to come along, please book your place at the allotment shop either this weekend or next weekend between 10-12noon, Saturday or Sunday. A deposit of £15 will be required per person and you will then be contacted to decide what meal combinations you want. A link to the menu is attached.

Don't forget, Sunday 26th October is the last day the shop will be open so not only is this the last day to book your Christmas Meal but it will also be the final day for handing in your paper orders for Kings Seeds and the last day you will be able to get 2025 pricing on your composts & fertilisers (we have already been warned of above inflation increases for Clover products from 1st January 2026).

Hello everyone. This coming weekends hedge cutting session will be postponed to the following weekend of 11th and 12th of October. Storm ‘Amy’ is threatening too make things very wet and windy, so hedge cutting will not be much fun, especially in those conditions!
Once again we’d be grateful for any help over the weekend of 11th-12th, 9-12.
Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dawn Hogg, a new member who has recently taken over Plot A20, who during this week with the help of a colleague has already cut and cleared the undergrowth from the Orchard lane side of the hedge, from A Lane to D Lane! What a fabulous effort and has given us a very welcome head start. Thank you Dawn!!!

Good Morning All. We will be cutting the outside and tops of all the hedges bordering Orchard Lane, on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October, 9am-12pm. We will also be clearing back the undergrowth that is encroaching on to the footpath. If anyone is able to help with this work, we’d be grateful if you would come along. If you have your own tools, that would be great and please wear appropriate clothing and gloves, as some of the hedges are thorny. Thanks in advance. 😁👍🏻
