International Women’s Day | Ramadan | Bedford
A powerful evening bringing our community together to break Iftar and reflect on how we create healthier, more connected communities.
This year’s theme was the belief that when we create opportunities for others, the benefits reach far beyond the individual.
We were honoured to welcome Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire alongside partners and organisations from across the county.
We also heard from Clare Fitzboydon, Director of Be Active Bedfordshire, who spoke about how physical activity not only improves health, but builds friendships, connection and a sense of belonging.
One of the most powerful parts of the evening was hearing directly from women who have taken part in Hawaa activities.
shared:
“Often the issue is not ability. It’s access.”
Another reminded us:
“Confidence isn’t about never feeling awkward. It’s about staying anyway.”
We also heard from about the link between physical activity and wellbeing, and from Sarah Gates, Bereavement Specialist Midwife at about improving the Butterfly Suite to better support families experiencing baby loss.
