𩹠Day One: Completed.
Casualties (Simulated): Alive.
Cupcakes: Questionable.
What a day! The staff and cadets of Beccles & Lowestoft Sea Cadets have officially survived Day One of our Advanced First Aid / First Aid at Work course.
We covered the essentials of saving a life: CPR, the Primary and Secondary Surveys, the Recovery Position, and managing various types of catastrophic bleeds. Our cadets and staff jumped into action, proving that when the pressure is on, they have the focus, calm, and skills needed to step up in a real crisis.
..Which is great, because their childcare and cupcake-making skills today showed we might need to stick to emergency medicine. đ¤Śââď¸đ§
While we learned how to bandage a wound perfectly, we also learned that frosting a cupcake apparently requires a hazmat suit, and "babysitting" according to some of our team looks suspiciously like a drill sergeant ordering a toddler to "stand at ease."
â The Serious Side
All jokes about baking disasters aside, we couldn't be prouder. First aid is a core life skill. The confidence our cadets and staff are gaining this weekend means they aren't just ready to serve their community - they are ready to save a life if the moment ever demands it.
Huge shoutout to everyone for their energy, focus, and willingness to learn (and bleed on each other for practice).
Bring on Day Two! đđŞ
