We are a group of people who meet monthly to talk about issues that are important to us, to:
--> See if we can do anything about them ourselves, or
--> See if we can influence authorities and hold them to account, and get them to change their policies/actions
--> Build a community flourishing in spirit, resilience and capacity to change things for the better. We formed in November 2024 and have a
broad spectrum of priorities, from the global climate catastrophe, to local housing, to parking on the high street. All views are welcome and treated equally with respect in a friendly, inviting atmosphere where no one person is in charge, and everyone can have their say. We are passionately inclusive, and welcome everyone of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs and abilities, in a supportive atmosphere. Our group, like other local assemblies, are aiming to change damaging or misguided policies from the 'bottom up'. We warmly welcome any local council representatives to take part and to inform the group, however our main focus is to determine the issues that are important to us group members (as opposed to the authorities, using us as a consultation vehicle and 'tick box' exercise after they have designed and shaped policy themselves). We aim to be representative of ALL community interests and views in Battle and the wider local area, and so....WE NEED YOU! We would like all community groups, as well as individuals in the area to get involved, come along, so that together we can become a force to be reckoned with, and influential over the issues that matter to us.
