We’re excited to invite veterans, serving personnel and military families to our FREE Veterans United breakfast and get together!

Come along for a relaxed morning, enjoy some breakfast, meet other veterans and families, have a chat and find out more about what Veterans United has to offer.

🍂📚 From abandoned classics to cosy café reads... we're turning the page! ☕✨

Let's be honest... Pride & Prejudice didn't quite win us over. In fact, not a single member managed to make it to the end! 😅

But that's all part of the fun of Book Club. Sometimes you discover a new favourite, and sometimes you discover exactly what isn't for you. Either way, there's always plenty to talk about!

A HUGE TCD NEWS UPDATE!

We’re absolutely delighted to share that TCD Charity has been awarded funding from the Crisis Resilience Fund through One Community Foundation and Kirklees

This funding will specifically support our veterans, helping us continue providing a safe and supportive space where veterans can connect, build confidence, improve wellbeing and access the support they need.

Our Veterans United group is a really important part of what we do at TCD, and this funding will help us strengthen and develop the support we offer to those who have served.

A huge thank you to One Community Foundation and Kirklees for recognising the importance of this work and supporting TCD and our veterans.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’re building together and excited for what’s ahead.

🌟 TCD Weekly Update 🌟

It has been another busy and positive week at TCD Charity 💙

Our Summer Dance Intensive at the studio is now complete, and it has been fantastic to see young people taking part in creative, active and confidence-building opportunities over the summer. Thank you to everyone who helped make the sessions such a positive experience. We are already looking forward to doing it all again at Christmas 🎄

Our Cleckheaton Youth Sessions have also continued to be a real success. Referrals have now reached capacity, which shows just how valuable these spaces are for young people and families locally. We are also pleased that the sessions will be able to continue from September through to Christmas, helping provide steady, welcoming support in the community.

Partnership work has been a major focus this week too. Through our Community Anchor work, the team has continued with outreach, local relationship-building and planning for the Community Connect Hub, which launches on 3rd September. This kind of steady community work helps strengthen local connections and create more accessible routes into support.

We have also been developing links with Kirklees College, including an exciting opportunity for our Veterans United group to take part in a free practical session within the construction department. Early conversations are also taking place around how TCD may be able to support students with mental health, including possible future links with Luke’s Lads and Butterflies sessions.

Behind the scenes, work has continued on funding applications and future planning to help TCD remain sustainable and responsive to local need. We are also preparing to launch our new ASK TWICE campaign for World Su***de Prevention Day on 10th September, with more details coming soon.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, facilitators, trustees, partners and supporters. Community work is built week by week through care, consistency and trusted relationships, and we are grateful to everyone who helps TCD keep showing up for local people.

OUT OF THE BLUE – CREATIVE WELLBEING SESSIONS

We’re pleased to share Out of the Blue, a free creative wellbeing service from hoot creative arts, supporting adults aged 18+ across Kirklees.

If you’re looking for something positive to support your wellbeing, creative activities can be a great way to connect with others, try something new and have some time for yourself.

🎨 Visual arts – painting, drawing, sculpture, mosaic & sewing
🎶 Music-making & singing
✍️ Creative writing
🎧 Digital music-making
💻 Online sessions also available

✨ No experience is needed
✨ All materials and equipment are provided
✨ Free for adults living in Kirklees
✨ You can join at any time throughout the year

Sessions are led by artists, musicians and writers, with Creative Support Workers and volunteers there to help you take part.
