🏆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻! 🏆

What a fantastic day for Bathgate Youth Band, who were delighted to come away as winners at today's youth contest in Innerleithen! 🥇🎺

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 is preparing to represent our town at both the 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 and the 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 over the coming weeks.

Our young musicians have been working hard in rehearsals and are looking forward to performing alongside youth bands from across Scotland.

The band is part of Bathgate Band's youth development programme, helping local young people build confidence, make friends and develop musical skills through performance opportunities such as these.

As our current members prepare for these exciting events, we're also looking ahead to our next beginner intake in January. If your child has ever wanted to learn a brass instrument or percussion, there's never been a better time to get involved.

Please join us in wishing our young musicians every success as they fly the flag for Bathgate. 🎺🎶

For information about joining our January beginner programme, send Bathgate Youth Band a message.

Progress continues behind the scenes as we work with our solicitors and West Lothian Council to finalise the lease for the future Bathgate Music Hub.

This week, specialist contractors were on site carrying out surveys to help us understand the work required to transform the former Bathgate West Nursery into a permanent home for music, learning and community activity.

We've also received some fantastic new aerial photographs of the building and grounds, giving a fresh perspective on the scale and potential of the site.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 – 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘆

We are aware of a number of potential incidents of vandalism in and around the former Bathgate West Nursery building.

At this stage, the property remains under the responsibility of West Lothian Council. We would therefore encourage local residents to report any concerns or suspicious activity directly to Police Scotland and West Lothian Council, using the appropriate channels.

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱 remains hopeful that lease negotiations will conclude within the next few weeks. Once this process is complete, we will formally adopt responsibility for the security and stewardship of the building and its grounds, as part of our wider plans for the Bathgate Music Hub.

In the meantime, we would like to thank local residents for their continued vigilance and care for the area. Your support and engagement are greatly appreciated and play an important role in protecting local community assets.

We will continue to provide updates as progress is made.

It was a massive effort across the board, educating the next generation of brass band conductors.

Bathgate Brass Band put participants through their paces for the Conductors Course with Russell Gray, while Bathgate Youth Band worked hard with the Foundation Conductors Course with Stuart Black.

After a fantastic weekend of teamwork and mentorship, both bands wrapped it all up with brilliant performances at the course closing concert.

Thank you to Russell, Stuart, and all the participating conductor, and a huge well done to all of our musicians! 👏🎵

Last week, Bathgate Brass Band and the Bathgate Music Hub were mentioned in the House of Commons.

We’re genuinely proud of that. Not because it’s about headlines, but because it shows that what’s happening here in Bathgate is being noticed beyond our town.

Bathgate Music Hub will be a place where anyone can discover, learn and enjoy music.

From young beginners to experienced performers, Bathgate Music Hub will support people through a blend of established ensembles and a growing network of freelance tutors who can guide and inspire learners across many instruments and styles.

Our aim is to make access to music achievable and affordable for our whole community, creating a space where people can build confidence, creativity and connection. We are working towards bringing Bathgate Music Hub to life from late 2026 into early 2027, with the final timeline shaped by the wider planning and development process.

We look forward to sharing more about our vision and the progress that is being made as the project moves ahead.
