𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒙𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑯𝒖𝒃 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕! 🎺

It was a massive effort across the board, educating the next generation of brass band conductors.

Bathgate Brass Band put participants through their paces for the Conductors Course with Russell Gray, while Bathgate Youth Band worked hard with the Foundation Conductors Course with Stuart Black.

After a fantastic weekend of teamwork and mentorship, both bands wrapped it all up with brilliant performances at the course closing concert.

Thank you to Russell, Stuart, and all the participating conductor, and a huge well done to all of our musicians! 👏🎵

A live showcase of developing conductors working with Bathgate Brass Band & Bathgate Youth Band

We’re delighted to invite you to our Conductors’ Workshop Concert, a relaxed, welcoming evening of live music featuring Bathgate Brass Band and Bathgate Youth Band.

This concert celebrates learning and musical development, with multiple conductors taking the podium throughout the evening.

We’re genuinely proud of that. Not because it’s about headlines, but because it shows that what’s happening here in Bathgate is being noticed beyond our town.

𝗔 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲!

Bathgate Music Hub will be a place where anyone can discover, learn and enjoy music.

From young beginners to experienced performers, Bathgate Music Hub will support people through a blend of established ensembles and a growing network of freelance tutors who can guide and inspire learners across many instruments and styles.

Our aim is to make access to music achievable and affordable for our whole community, creating a space where people can build confidence, creativity and connection. We are working towards bringing Bathgate Music Hub to life from late 2026 into early 2027, with the final timeline shaped by the wider planning and development process.

We look forward to sharing more about our vision and the progress that is being made as the project moves ahead.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲.

Following Community Asset Transfer approval on 11 March, we, Bathgate Brass Band, are now working with West Lothian Council to agree the lease that will allow Bathgate Music Hub to move forward.

The Music Hub will bring together our established ensembles and a growing network of freelance music tutors to create a welcoming space for creativity, learning and community connection. Our aim is to make access to music achievable and affordable for people at every age and stage, supported by a blend of trusted organisations and independent tutors who can guide, teach and inspire.

Over the weeks ahead we will share regular updates on our progress, our partners and our vision for what Bathgate Music Hub will bring to the community.

Exciting news, but now the hard work begins.
Bathgate will have its Music Hub.

Transfer of former nursery building for new music hub

A former nursery in Bathgate is set to become a new centre for music in the town.

West Lothian Council’s Asset Transfer Committee have unanimously agreed the transfer of the former Bathgate West Nursery building to Bathgate Band at their meeting on 11 March 2026.
Bathgate Band are proposing to turn the Millburn Road site into Bathgate Music Hub, a shared resource for music organisations in the town.

A community benefit lease will be put in place for a combined four-year period to allow them to establish the hub, with an option to purchase the property at the end of that lease period.

The former nursery is currently vacant and was declared surplus, after it was not required for service delivery by the council.

Bathgate Band are a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) formed to benefit the community of Bathgate and the wider West Lothian area with the stated purpose of advancing the arts, heritage and culture.

The organisation has a long association with Bathgate, and has been looking to secure permanent premises in Bathgate to grow the organisation and advance its charitable activities.
They consider the former Bathgate West Nursery suitable for a new music hub, which they describe as being “a community-led initiative to secure a permanent, purpose-built space in Bathgate, delivering measurable benefits in education, wellbeing, inclusion, and civic pride”.

They speak to increased confidence, belonging, creativity, and the sense of pride that comes from being part of something bigger.

Led by Bathgate Brass Band, the project seeks the Community Asset Transfer with the vision of bringing the building into community ownership for music, learning and shared community use.
