Bathgate Meadows Nature Park - Public consultation event - Wednesday 9 September

West Lothian Council, funded by SEPA through the Water Environment Fund and supported by consultant’s AECOM, will host two ‘drop-in’ public consultation events. The events are scheduled to take place at the Jim Walker Partnership Centre, Lindsay House, South Bridge Street, Bathgate, EH48 1TS between 13:30pm and 18:30pm on Wednesday 9 September.

The project aims to create a large, high-quality, accessible, and wildlife-rich nature park on former industrial land. The project will regenerate the rivers that run through the town which have previously been damaged by its former use, promote the benefits of active travel by creating new direct connections between Blackburn, Wester Inch, and the historic town centre, and aims to inject new life into the town centre.

As part of the engagement, we would like to invite those parties which may have an interest in the proposals to the above event to speak with members of the project team and view consultation boards relating to the emerging proposals.

AFTER being given a voucher for a bungee jump as a gift, a young West Lothian woman decided to take the plunge and kill two birds with one stone by raising funds for Acredale House, Bathgate, at the same time.
"Its my first bungee jump and I've always wanted to do one," Nicola Martin told West Lothian NEWS.
Nicola, who works at Acredale House, which provides day support services for older people who seek companionship and activities, will be doing her jump at Killiecrankie in three weeks time.
"I'm looking forward to it, but nervous at the same time," she added, "Our wee clients deserve the very best care we can give and these funds will go towards making sure that happens.
"Any donations will be gratefully received."
Anyone who would like to sponsor Nicola can donate through paypal with the email address [email protected]

Th Community Council wrote to West Lothian Council about the delays to the planned improvements to Edinburgh Road this is the response we got....
Dear Bathgate Community Council Members,

Thank you for your email regarding the planned works on Edinburgh Road, Bathgate.
The Edinburgh Road resurfacing project, which also includes the implementation of a segregated two-way cycleway, has been progressing through the procurement process since March this year. In addition, Traffic Regulation Orders relating to road redetermination and the introduction of new waiting restrictions have been progressing since February.
Due to the value of the project, the contract was required to be procured through an open tender process. While the original intention was to commence works on site towards the end of the summer, the procurement process and subsequent agreement of a start date have taken longer than anticipated.
I can confirm that a contractor was appointed at the end of July, and a pre-start meeting has now been arranged. This meeting will confirm the final programme and start date for the works. It is currently anticipated that construction will begin in mid-September, allowing the contractor sufficient time to mobilise resources and prepare for the project.
It should also be noted that these works could not have been completed solely during the summer holiday period. The project is programmed to be delivered in several phases and is expected to take approximately six months to complete.
I trust this clarifies the current position.
Kind Regards,
Graeme Burton
Design Engineering Manager

🍽️ Sunday sorted.

First Sunday of every month at Bathgate Golf Club. Proper carvery, proper portions, and someone else doing the washing up. 🙌

Roast on the plate, pudding after, table full of your favourite people. That's the whole plan. 🥂
