Headway Bath and District

Headway Bath and District Providing specialist support and cognitive rehab for adults affected by acquired brain injuries.

Headway Bath and District helps support individuals who have sustained a brain injury. Our current services are:

Outreach (1 to 1) rehab & support:
Our 1 to 1 outreach service uses a person-centred and outcomes-based approach
to support brain injury survivors to regain independence, thus enabling a better
quality of life, reducing social isolation and decline in cognitive functioning. Day Centre

Sessions at the Percy Community Centre, Bath:
Every Tuesday and Friday 9:30am to 12:30pm. These sessions focus on cognitive rehab-based activities, that are carefully planned and tailored to suit the specific groups of clients attending. We provide a safe space for social and peer support, and a combination of different group-based and individual activities that are aimed at supporting rehabilitation and gaining/ regaining skills. Activity Group
Every Thursday 12:30pm to 2:30pm
We have a weekly activity group with a range of activities on offer. They are usually based out and about either doing walks (with a focus on improving mobility, orientation, memorising routes, improving confidence and road
safety when out in the community), or we arrange group visits to places of interest (e.g., exhibitions, galleries, café’s, community spaces etc). These sessions also promote independence and confidence when out in the community as well as encouraging social connection with peers.

Our Thursday Activity Group members recently enjoyed the final session of our Health & Wellbeing course with the Roman Baths!

This session explored music and light in Roman spaces, with everyone getting the chance to play a model of a Roman water organ.

A big thank you to the Roman Baths for delivering such an interesting and engaging series of sessions for our members!

Congratulations are in order!!! Firstly we want to wish Tom, one of our trustees, and his lovely partner Hannah, lots of joy and happiness in their lives together. And a massive well done to Michael (Tom's dad) who took to the mike, for the first time since his stroke, to toast the happy couple!

A special moment from the end of our Curry Race Night in July.

A huge thank you to Lara, one of our clients, who gave a wonderful speech to close the evening. She did an amazing job speaking in front of everyone and sharing such thoughtful words.

It was a lovely way to end what was a brilliant night of food, racing, fundraising and community support.

Well done, Lara - everyone at Headway Bath & District is so proud of you

Our Friday Day Centre clients spent time at Bath City Farm last month, taking part in a brilliant cookery course.

Across the sessions, clients had the chance to develop their cooking and baking skills, try new recipes, build confidence in the kitchen and enjoy working together in a supportive environment.

It was a lovely opportunity to learn practical skills, be creative with food and share the results together afterwards.

A big thank you to Bath City Farm for hosting the sessions and supporting our clients.

Our clients had another fantastic session at the Roman Bath's Learning Centre, as part of their Roman Guide to Wellbeing Programme.

This week's session focused on Roman Travel and Socializing and we calculated how journeys would take between Bath and Rome during that era.

We got to explore the 'Investigation Zone' where we could excavate replica Roman objects and walk in an underground tunnel among in-situ Roman remains.

A big thank you to the Roman Bath's

A huge congratulations to our CEO, Philippa, on completing the Social Economy West Accelerator Programme. 🎉

This 9-month course, funded by WECA and Business West and run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, brought together charity and social economy leaders from across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

The programme provided an amazing opportunity to network with peers working in similar environments, hear from inspirational speakers, and learn from knowledgeable tutors about how to build a stable, sustainable charity and support future growth.

We’re incredibly proud of Philippa for completing the programme and bringing this learning back to support the continued development of Headway Bath & District.
