Headway Bath and District

Headway Bath and District Providing specialist support and cognitive rehab for adults affected by acquired brain injuries.

Headway Bath and District helps support individuals who have sustained a brain injury. Our current services are:

Outreach (1 to 1) rehab & support:
Our 1 to 1 outreach service uses a person-centred and outcomes-based approach
to support brain injury survivors to regain independence, thus enabling a better
quality of life, reducing social isolation and decline in cognitive functioning. Day Centre

Sessions at the Percy Community Centre, Bath:
Every Tuesday and Friday 9:30am to 12:30pm. These sessions focus on cognitive rehab-based activities, that are carefully planned and tailored to suit the specific groups of clients attending. We provide a safe space for social and peer support, and a combination of different group-based and individual activities that are aimed at supporting rehabilitation and gaining/ regaining skills. Activity Group
Every Thursday 12:30pm to 2:30pm
We have a weekly activity group with a range of activities on offer. They are usually based out and about either doing walks (with a focus on improving mobility, orientation, memorising routes, improving confidence and road
safety when out in the community), or we arrange group visits to places of interest (e.g., exhibitions, galleries, café’s, community spaces etc). These sessions also promote independence and confidence when out in the community as well as encouraging social connection with peers.

Walking Tennis with Headway Bath & District 🎾

Our clients recently enjoyed a walking tennis session, a slower-paced and inclusive version of tennis that gives everyone the chance to take part at their own pace.

It was a great opportunity to stay active, practise coordination and movement, and enjoy time together in a supportive and social environment.

Well done to everyone who got involved!

Earlier this month, our clients enjoyed a visit to the Holburne Museum to explore Beyond Impressionism: Printmaking from Manet to Picasso

The exhibition introduced them to a fascinating range of prints and artistic styles spanning from the 1850s to the 1930s.

After exploring the exhibition, clients took part in a creative activity inspired by Japanese art and made their own decorative fans. It was a lovely opportunity to learn something new, get creative and enjoy time together at the museum.

A big thank you to the Holburne Museum for another enjoyable and engaging visit.

Caroline, one of the event organisers, said the day “exceeded our expectations”, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

Bath to Big Ben Cycling Fundraiser - Thank You! 🚴‍♂️

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Bath to Big Ben Community Cycling Fundraiser!.

Our original goal was to collectively cycle 110 miles, which would have been 118 laps of Odd Down Cycle Track. Despite being hit by some awful weather, with heavy rain throughout the event, everyone gave it their all and showed amazing determination.

In the end, we completed an incredible 85 laps, that’s 127.5km, or around 79 miles. While we didn’t quite make it all the way to Big Ben, we cycled roughly the distance from Bath to Reading, which is still a fantastic achievement!

Thank you to everyone who took part, donated, supported, cheered us on, and helped make the event possible. We are so grateful for your effort, energy and support.

A special thank you to All Cycle Bath & West for supporting the event and helping make accessible cycling possible on the day.

Well done everyone, an amazing effort in very challenging conditions

Carers Week 2026: Building Carer Friendly Communities

This week is Carers Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution of unpaid carers across our communities.

At Headway Bath & District, we know that acquired brain injury affects not only the individual, but also their families, friends and carers. Carers often provide vital support quietly and consistently, and it is so important that they feel recognised, valued and supported too.

We’re pleased to support The Carers Centre in raising awareness of this year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities. The Carers’ Centre supports carers across Bath and North East Somerset, offering free wellbeing activities, advice and support.

At Headway, we also run a Carers Support Group, providing a welcoming space for carers of people living with brain injury to connect, share experiences and support one another.

If you, or someone you know, is caring for someone and would benefit from support, please contact The Carers’ Centre:
