📣 Breaking news: Twerton and Whiteway Community Network is becoming a Community Benefit Society, an organisation run by people living and working in Twerton and Whiteway.

Why does this matter?! A CBS would be independent and governed by the people of Twerton and Whiteway. It can create and protect community assets, deliver events and activities that bring people together, apply for and hold money to be spent in the community. Importantly it will expand the community-power building work the Network has been doing over the past five years.

Read our new blog post to find out more about the journey we’ve been on and why this is an exciting moment for community power in Twerton and Whiteway: https://www.twertonandwhiteway.org/2026/04/local-people-make-twerton-and-whiteway/

Our CBS needs a name, below are some of the ideas that have been put forward and voted for at the last Community Breakfast and in local groups- let us know your favourite or add your own in the comments!

• Twerton and Whiteway Together
• Twerton and Whiteway Action Group
• Proud of Twerton and Whiteway

We all deserve better, and together, we are stronger ✊

Like many post-industrial areas across the UK, Twerton and Whiteway has a long social history of community spirit and action. In 2018, this grew once more when a group of local community activists began talking about a more joined-up approach for the area. As the country was plunged into Covid, the....

Twerton & Whiteway locals needed! Apply for the 'Pride in Place' Neighbourhood Board

This £20 million funding from government needs to be decided on by this community, but that'll only happen if people apply for this 'Neighbourhood Board' that's being set up to make the decisions.

If you or someone you know is passionate about this area then please please get them to apply!

https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/bathnesjobs/Job/JobDetail?JobId=2253

Deadline is 3 April, and Kate and Sally from the Community Network can support with the application process for anyone who wants some help or a bit of cheering on (it can be so hard to big yourselves up on paper sometimes!)- message [email protected] or DM us.

You can also apply for the Chair of the board position- deadline this Sunday (March 22)! https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/bathnesjobs/Job/JobDetail?JobId=2241 - bit more work for this one - CV, references etc. but if you're tempted then get in touch with us and we can support!

Let's make sure this process is genuinely community led 💪

Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking for a passionate, driven and motivated volunteer to lead the Twerton and Whiteway Pride in Place programme.

On Friday, B&NES Council are starting the 'early engagement' conversations about the £20 million government 'Pride in Place' funding that's coming to Twerton and Whiteway. Follow the link to see what events they're planning and spread the word to people you know.

If you've heard about the money and want to be part of deciding how it's spent, come along to some of these events and find out more from B&NES. Crucially, we'll be able to find out about the process of applying to be on the 'Neighbourhood Board' that will make choices about the spending, and applying to be Chair of that board.

It's kicking off on Friday 27th at 3-7pm at 'The Annex' on Dominion Road (by The Foyer, in the old Trauma Breakthrough office).

Let's make sure residents are leading these decisions and the community shows up to these events!

More information about the government's 'Pride in Place' programme (through which £20 million will be spent by the Twerton and Whiteway Community over the next 10 years) now available on https://bathnesplaces.co.uk/prideinplace/

Residents, businesses and organisations in Twerton and Whiteway have been sent this information in a community letter which is also available at:https://bathnesplaces.co.uk/regen/files/09a%20Community%20Letter%20260209.pdf

The national Pride in Place programme is designed to be community-led and put decision making in the hands of local people.

The Bath & North East Somerset Council Bath Place Team is organising a range of early engagement activities from 27 February to 8 March and these will be an opportunity for everyone in the community to find out more about the programme, the Neighbourhood Board and how to get involved.

Recruitment for the independent Chairperson will start soon:
