In Egypt, two groups are currently learning sewing and tailoring skills, while a third group prepares to graduate.
Meanwhile, two women who previously completed the programme have taken another step forward. They have purchased their own sewing machines and started home-based businesses, creating clothing and earning an income from the skills they gained.
Their progress shows what can happen when training is paired with the opportunity to put new skills to work.
Your support can help more women and men gain skills that can open the door to sustainable livelihoods.

Before joining a sewing course with LIA-Djibouti and UNFD, Zeina felt she had little to contribute to her family. She decided to seize the opportunity to learn a practical skill and it has opened a new chapter.
Today, Zeina is a trainer helping others learn to sew while using her skills to support her own family, from helping with school supplies to contributing towards household expenses.
Her story shows what can happen when someone is given the opportunity to learn a skill and put it to work.
Your gift to SewGood can help more women and men gain practical skills that can become a pathway to greater independence and sustainable livelihoods.

£130 could provide a sewing machine and help turn a skill into a livelihood.
Through SewGood, your gift can equip women and men with the tools they need to put their sewing skills into practice, create opportunities to earn an income and build a more sustainable future for themselves and their families.
A sewing machine can be more than a machine, it can be the start of a livelihood.

At 19, Ayan Hassan Abdillahi had already faced difficult choices. She left school in Grade 5 when her family could no longer afford the fees.
Determined to create a better future, Ayan sought out vocational training and began learning sewing and tailoring through UNFD, later strengthening her skills with support from LIA – Djibouti.
Today, she has new skills, greater confidence and a clear goal: to open her own sewing workshop, earn a stable income and support her family.
Ayan’s story shows what can happen when young people have the opportunity to learn a skill, build confidence and pursue a livelihood.
A skill can become a livelihood. A livelihood can open the door to a new future.
