Hello everyone! This past Monday the RUAG guys embarked on a walk to Dundas Aqueduct, via the Bath Linear. We set off at 9:15am in glorious sunshine and walked via Innox & Brickfields Park, and through the two tunnels. We read the information boards and learned about their history, and their length (the longest being 1600 metres long, and the shortest just over 400 metres!). It was dark, cold, and quiet (apart from a few jokers making train noises.. we will mention no names!). Once out of the tunnels we admired the views as the landscape opened and carried on with our flower identification. We came across some increasingly rare English (native) Bluebells, which can be recognised by their distinctive Shepards crook shape.

Nearby, we went by William Smiths (alleged) home; known as the father of Geology. Another notable site was the grave of Harry Patch, the last fighting soldier from the First World War, who passed away in 2009 at amazing age of 111.

After around 3 hours of walking, we reached the Dundas Aqueduct and stopped at a café and as we were leaving the heavens opened and we got caught in a hailstorm. We had to make good time back, so we cut off a large section by climbing a 200m hill in Monkton Combe, leaving us out of breath! After a long walk home – the total step count being around 30k – the guys deservedly put their feet up and relaxed!

Nosey Parkers

Fridays group came to view Mondays work at the Duck Pond, Victoria Park
Despite, non arrival of impeding Amber storm, the team decided to go but review.
The head of Parks came to meet us and it was thumbs up and jammy dodgers all round to the good works.
