At YMCA Little Shoots Nursery, our children have been captivated by the magic of nature—watching tiny caterpillars transform into beautiful butterflies! 🦋 Their excitement was contagious as they observed each stage of the life cycle, sharing moments like, “It’s opened its wings!” and “Look, it was moving its wings!” One child even noticed, “It has spots on it.” This hands-on experience inspires curiosity, wonder, and a love for learning. 🌱✨

The children at YMCA Little Shoots Nursery had a blast joining the Big Brush Club! 🦷✨ They watched our team demonstrate proper brushing techniques using circular motions and a sand timer to understand how long to brush for, making learning about oral hygiene fun and interactive. Each child took home a toothbrush and toothpaste, and we invited families to share photos of their little ones brushing at home. To top it off, we set up a messy play activity where the children tackled cleaning some very dirty (pretend!) teeth. Together, we’re building healthy habits and bright smiles—one brush at a time! 😁🪥

Today is Somerset Day, celebrating our long history all the way back to Alfred the Great.

We wanted to take this opportunity to celebrate our wonderful community and staff in Somerset who make our work possible. Our youth workers and accommodation and support workers work tirelessly, transforming lives and building bright futures for all those within our community.

Recently, the local policing team visited Redland Nursery. The officers spoke at the children's level about keeping safe and how the police work in their local community doing all sorts of things to help people. The children were able to sit in the car and turn the sirens and flashing lights on which was such fun!
