Meet the fantastic Bartlett family; Nickie, Ed, William and Lucy who have raised an incredible £1,553 for the MacMillan Cancer Rehab Team here at the 🎉Inspired to help after her cancer diagnosis, Nickie said

"The MacMillan Cancer Rehab team who ran the Hope course were fantastic at helping a group of us learn to live with and beyond our cancer diagnoses. My diagnosis and treatment didn't just affect me, it was something that all of my family and I worked through together." ❤️

Taking part in the Heritage Coast event, Ed and William took on the 10k, whilst Nickie impressively completed the Half Marathon, with Lucy acting as chief cheerleader for the family! 🚶‍♀️

What a fantastic family achievement and we couldn’t be more grateful for your efforts! ⭐

Over the next month RUHX are sharing some behind-the-scenes of our wonderful musicians and artists who support our Art at the Heart programme here at the RUH!

We sat down with our wonderful in residence artist, Charlotte, who told us all about the importance of Art Sparks art sessions for our patients within the Children's Ward here at the RUH Bath. These sessions are not only fun but help patients to spend some time with their parents and feel more comfortable about spending time in hospital, during what can feel like a scary time.

Recently RUHX helped to host our first art participatory sessions for patients in the Dyson Cancer Centre.

With an extra-extraordinary donation from the Friends of Huck, our cancer support team at the RUH Bath working alongside Art at the Heart of the RUH have begun to introduce and implement a course of workshops providing complementary therapies. This is a new initiative that has been introduced for patients receiving cancer treatment here at the Dyson Cancer Centre.

Tracy Langton, Macmillan Cancer Support Wellbeing Hub Manager, said “We are really grateful for the donation received from Friends of Huck. This will enable us to offer much needed support to our patients using Art Therapy and complementary therapies in the Macmillan Wellbeing Hub."

This volunteer week meet our amazing Warminster & District Group! 👋

This inspirational group started raising money for the building of the new Dyson Cancer Centre back in 2013! All the group members have a connection with cancer in some way, which has driven their passion for fundraising and helped make the opening of the new centre in 2024 possible.

They’re pretty famous in their local area for their fundraising activities, especially (toy) Pig Racing nights and their Human Fruit Machine which is often found at local fetes and fayres!

Annie, Chairperson says: “We have so much fun and we’ve also become great friends and support each other through life’s ups and downs.

Our tour of the Dyson Cancer Centre made us very proud to be part of such a wonderful achievement. To know what a difference the new centre makes, to both patients and their families, has inspired us to keep fundraising for Cancer Services. We are always looking for new members to join our 'fundraising family', to bring new ideas for future events and help us make a difference to anyone going through cancer.”

Meet Kath, one of our fantastic Bristol Half Marathon runners🏃‍♀️ Kath finished the race in 2:26 in May and raised an incredible £1,250 for our PET-CT Scanner campaign! She was inspired to raise money for RUHX after her dad was treated for cancer at RUH Bath – and given the all clear at Christmas.

“I cannot thank the amazing nurses and doctors at the RUH enough for getting my dad better and looking after him this whole time,” says Kath. “We had a tough year mentally and emotionally but through it all, we all stayed strong and focused on dad getting better. Throughout his treatment, dad was resilient and positive, and I think that mindset kept him going through the tough times.”

Kath enjoyed the running challenge so much that she has signed up for the Bath Half 2027. Entries are now open! Sign up and do something extraordinary for RUH Bath.
