We can’t believe it’s been a month since we enjoyed a sunshine-filled walk with more than fifty locals to launch this year’s Big BaNES 100k!

The weather has certainly been a bit mixed since then, but it’s great to see that’s not stopping people signing up for this year’s challenge.

If you’re thinking about getting involved and wondering how to get started, just remember:

💚 It’s super quick to sign-up via our official Big BaNES 100k website (link in our bio).

💚 You can take part at your own pace and in your way. Tackle 100km in a day, or a few km every week. It’s entirely up to you!

💚 Every kilometre counts, with all funds raised supporting Mentoring Plus and Off The Record.

Get your Big BaNES 100k started today!

As Pride Month continues, we’re happy to share that our LGBTQ+ team have partnered with the American Museum & Gardens for this year’s Rainbow Family Community Day 🏳️‍🌈

Hosted as part of Q***r Bath 2026, Rainbow Family Community Day is taking place this Sunday, 10am-5pm, and our team will be running an interactive stall and quiet breakout space.

Come and say hello, learn more about our LGBTQ+ youth clubs and listening support, and enjoy creative activities with our friendly team.

Rainbow Family Community Day is also a great opportunity to enjoy the American Museum and gardens, and visitors are encouraged to pay what they can.

Do you volunteer with us? If so, this message is for you 💙

This Volunteers’ Week, we want to say a huge thank you to every one of our incredible volunteers 🎉

Our volunteers are crucial to the work we provide for young people and their emotional health and wellbeing. The expertise and commitment they each bring enables us to have a hugely diverse range of support available.

At a time when we’re seeing growing demand for our services and young people facing increasingly complex mental health challenges, their time and kindness has never been more important.

Thank you so much 🙏.

Did you know we have been supporting LGBTQ+ young people in Bath & North East Somerset for more than thirty years?

Or that we developed a specialised programme of support in 2012?

Thanks to the support from our community and generous funders like The National Lottery Community Fund our core areas of support include:

🏳️‍🌈 SPACE, a weekly youth group for 13-21 year olds (up to 25 with SEND diagnosis) and SPACE To Be, a monthly group for under 13 year olds.

🏳️‍🌈 1:1 listening support, where young people can explore anything that may be affecting them relating to their sexuality or gender identity.

Each service is young-person led and facilitated by our LGBTQ+ youth workers and volunteers. Learn more in the comments 👇

With Pride Month now underway, we'd love for our community to spread the word about these services, so more LGBTQ+ young people feel safe, valued and supported.

Thank you, and happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

As part of our Kindness Counts campaign, our Development Manager, James, has been visiting local schools to talk about the impact of kindness on mental health.

James has also been sharing how we can help children look after their own mental health and wellbeing.

For example, our in-school listening support service is just one of the ways we help, offering free, 20-minute confidential sessions where children can talk with a trained listening support worker about whatever is on their mind.

Big thanks to James for connecting with our local schools, and to everyone supporting Kindness Counts 🙏

ICYMI: The Big BaNES 100k is back for 2026!

After last week’s brilliant community walk which launched this year’s challenge, we’re now inviting everyone in and around Bath to get outside, get moving and cover 100km between May and September.

Every pound raised will help young people in Bath & North East Somerset improve their mental health and wellbeing.

You can take on the challenge in your own way and at your pace. Walk, cycle, scoot or swim, it’s up to you!

Sign up now (link in the comments) and let’s make this the biggest Big BaNES 100k yet!

Congratulations to OTR volunteer, Adam, who has been nominated for the Bath & North East Somerset Council Community Awards 🥳

Adam said:

“Getting nominated for this award was such a surprise to me. I feel like I can't express enough how honoured I am to be nominated; to have the passion I have for OTR seen and recognised feels very full circle."

This feels full circle to us too. Before joining us as a volunteer, Adam connected with OTR through our Listening Support Service and then SPACE, our LGBTQ+ youth group. To see them now providing Listening Support to other young people is incredible.

Adam, your nomination is so well deserved and we are all so happy for you!

Listen to Adam's story and learn more about our Listening Support Service in the comments.

Can you spread a bit of kindness?
