Gaywest

You mustn't think that GayWest is all about stuffing your face with cake, we do other things as well. But it is designer cake day - just once a month - so a flock of swans appeared: choux pastry, oils & spices, with a lime and something marmalade base. Sin on a plate.

Our in-house cake creator has come up with something delicious: Dutch Apple Crumble with apple cider, brandy and cinnamon. A huge thank you.

Home made Austrian strudel with whipped cream, such a treat. The cafe had a good attendance with regular members, visitors and old friends that we haven't seen for a while.

A few of us went on a boat trip from Pulteney Bridge up to the old weir at Bathampton. Lovely outing.

Rhubarb Surprise at the Cafe - apparently in the baking it did it's own thing - but it was still delicious.

View just below Pulteney Bridge, on the way to the Rainbow Cafe.

We have a very kind member who once a month makes us home made cakes. These are carrot cakes topped with cream and jam.

A few years ago he was talking to the singer Cliff Richards who shared his own mother's recipe. Here it is: moist, spongy and ever so slightly spicy, not unlike our members.
