A few years ago he was talking to the singer Cliff Richards who shared his own mother's recipe. Here it is: moist, spongy and ever so slightly spicy, not unlike our members.

I call these Carmen Miranda cakes. Made by one of our members, this is a French recipe from Brittany, 'Sable Breton aux fruits de Baies. French shortbread cakes with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries, with apricot glaze, topped by a fruit called physallis. Absolutely delicious and a huge thank you to our cake designer.

At our Rainbow Cafe, Saturday morning, one of our members brought in a home-made 'Schiaciatta' cake to share with everyone. It's an Italian recipe from Tuscany, made from grapes left over from the harvest festival and really delicious.
