Finn is our Bird of the Month for August!

Finn is a Long-Eared Owl, one of our five resident owl species in the UK.

Finn is bird of the month because he has been doing fantastically well with his crate training. His keepers are teaching him how to use a crate so that he can be moved around the centre safely to our flying areas. This is part of the restraint-free training of our birds. Finn is working towards choosing to enter the crate when the opportunity is presented to him, and then feeling secure about being moved around when his is in the crate. Well done Finn!

We are looking for fundraising volunteers!

We are looking for people to support us with our applications to Trusts and Foundations. No experience needed, just reasonable IT and writing skills, and you can volunteer from home!

Time commitment can be flexible depending on how much time you can give.

Our popular Owl Evenings are back!

Dates and Times:
19 & 20 September 5:30-7pm
21 & 22 November 3:30-5pm
12 & 13 December 3:30-5pm
19 & 20 December 3:30-5pm

With a hot drink and cake in hand, sit back, relax and enjoy the cosy sunset, and our beautiful owls flying silently overhead. Come face to face with some of nature’s most stunning species and even fly two of our owls yourself! Learn all about the different species of owl we have here at The Bird of Prey project, and our experienced bird keepers will answer all your questions about our amazing birds.

Our Owl Evenings will run throughout Autumn and Winter. They are very popular and do get booked up, so secure you place on our website now!

New! Join us for our new workshops for Under 5s

Dates: Tuesday 22 September, Tuesday 13 October
Times: 10am-11am

Come and take part in our engaging pre‑school sessions designed to delight little nature‑lovers! Children will get the chance to meet two of our owls and watch them in flight, as they swoop overhead. They will also take part in craft based and hands-on activities, learning all about owls and how they live. It’s an exciting introduction to wildlife that’s perfect for tiny explorers and their grown‑ups.

Suitable for children aged up to 5, though older siblings are welcome.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to British Bird of Prey Day last weekend!

We were delighted to welcome over 200 visitors to come together and celebrate British wildlife. Visitors browsed stalls by local wildlife groups and artists, watched flying displays, went on Wildlife Walks, listened to special guest speakers, took part in discussions and explored moths and owl pellets during workshops. Wow!

It was wonderful to see so many wildlife enthusiasts of all ages at the centre, chatting and learning about birds of prey and the eco-systems they exist within, and the importance of conserving their habitats. We discussed ideas about what we can do as individuals, and wider society, to help nature.

Thank you to our guest speakers, volunteers, stall holders and our team for putting together and running such a successful day.
