TEAM BUILDING FOR CHANGE

The Bird of Prey Project, partnering with Corporate Events for Good, is offering team-building experiences that go beyond the typical, bringing colleagues together for a unique experience that combines teamwork with hands-on conservation. Teams will get up close to magnificent birds of prey while learning about the important role conservation plays in protecting these species and their habitats.

The event encourages communication, teamwork, problem-solving and environmental awareness while creating a memorable shared experience. Fully facilitated, it supports CSR and ESG goals, corporate volunteering targets and employee wellbeing, while helping teams connect with nature and make a positive contribution to wildlife conservation.

CONSERVATION UPDATE: Cavity Nesting Species Programme

For the past four years, we have been working with land managers and farmers to monitor amber listed species like Tawny Owls and Kestrels, as well as Barn Owls and Little Owls, and promote their conservation through installing nest boxes where beneficial, and improving habitats as part of our Cavity Nesting Species Programme.

Recently, Alice, one of our brilliant Bird Keepers, has been developing the programme, looking closer at the land surrounding the nest boxes we’ve installed. More specifically, monitoring the small mammal population that calls the land their home.

Using humane, live traps to briefly capture and observe these creatures, Alice has been working to advise landowners on how to create more habitat because, as she put it, “if we can increase biodiversity at the sites, we can create a positive impact on any owls or kestrels that are using the boxes.”

Collecting this type of data is valuable not only for protecting endangered species, but it also benefits the continuation of the Cavity Nesting Species Programme. Building good relationships with farmers and landowners, and encouraging an increase in biodiversity is what keeps the programme alive, so that we can continue to have a positive impact on habitats and the birds that live there.

This has been a great learning opportunity for us at the centre, which we will implement at other sites in the future.

One-hour slots available every Tuesday from 12pm to 1pm

Enjoy exclusive access to three different birds of prey, depending on who we are flying that day, and capture stunning images of these beautiful creatures during our one-hour outdoor sessions.

This experience is perfect for photographers who want rare, close-up opportunities with incredible birds in a countryside setting.

Our expert Bird Keepers will fly the birds using our gentle, consent‑based approach so every moment is natural and authentic, and also ensures the birds choose how they participate. All you need is your own camera and weather-appropriate clothing!

This is a small group experience, providing everyone with plenty of space and time to get the perfect shots.

With a hot drink and cake in hand, sit back, relax and enjoy the cosy sunset, atmosphere and our beautiful owls flying silently overhead, and come face to face with some of natures most stunning species, flying two of our owls yourself.

Mabli is our Bird of the Month for September!

Mabli is a Turkey Vulture. Turkey Vultures are an American species, boasting one of the best senses of smell of any bird, which allows them to track down carrion to scavenge on.

As you can see Mabli is a very curious bird who loves making mischief whilst his aviary is being cleaned! Despite his antics making cleaning his aviary a bit of a challenge, all the bird keepers love his friendliness, and he took no time at all warming up to his new home after we acquired him from earlier this year.

Mabli is our Bird of the month as he's now flying in our displays at the centre! So if you come and visit us you might get to see him flying!

Introducing The Owlet Club team!

You might get to meet Eddie, the African Spotted Eagle Owl, and Kofi, The Southern White-Faced Owl at The Owlet Club.

The Owlet Club are our engaging sessions designed for toddlers and pre-schoolers. You'll get the changed to meet two of our owls and watch them in flight, as they swoop overhead. Take part in craft based and hands-on activities, learning all about owls and how they live.

Its International Vulture Awareness Day!

We're delighted to have Turkey Vulture Mabli at our centre, and you can now see him flying in shows!
