We are a new group seeking to create the capacity to develop community food forests in the upper Avon region around Bath.
Food forests are perennial edible ecosystems, including trees, shrubs, climbers, herbaceous plants and roots. Once established they can be foraged for food, medicinal plants and other useful products. They are diverse, beautiful, and wonderful for wildlife, whilst providing drought and climate resilient food for us humans.
We plan to found a Community Benefit Society which will be able to release community shares in order to buy land. We’d like more farmland returned to community ownership and management, a kind of ‘recommoning‘. We want more people to have access to the land, to experience the community that develops through collective growing, and a sense of belonging to the land.
We have a potential site we have identified and are working towards developing a share offer.
