Bath Rugby Foundation We re-ignite confidence and self-worth in young people and give them the life skills and opportunities to not only survive but to thrive in the world.

We're a charity that helps young people who need emotional, practical and physical support by building confidence, developing life skills and creating pathways to independence. We put our hearts and souls into helping any challenged young person stop feeling judged, crushed or underestimated and start feeling self-assured, hopeful and happy. Every year we change the lives of thousands of young people by being active in their communities, schools or at our home at the Rec.

What does learning to plaster a wall have to do with building a future?

It’s about learning how to take on a challenge.
How to work with your hands.
How to build confidence.
How to see what you’re capable of.

Through the fourth step on our pathway of support, young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education can access practical and vocational experiences alongside Functional Skills, mentoring and life-skills development, helping them build clear pathways towards further education, employment and training.

With almost 1 million young people aged 16-24 currently NEET in the UK, creating opportunities that help young people build the skills and confidence to take their next steps matters.

By investing in our young people, we’re building stronger communities, too.

We’re proud to have won Youth Champion of the Year at today's Radio Bath Awards 2026.

As our CEO Lynne Fernquest says: “With 1 million young people not in employment, education, or training (NEET) in the UK, our youth need champions more than ever.”

That’s why our work matters. Every year, we support 5,500 young people through our five-step pathway - meeting them where they are, removing barriers and helping them move towards education, employment, training and independence.

A huge thank you to our incredible team, volunteers, partners and supporters who make this possible every day. 💙

Thank you to Radio Bath and 3SG for bringing our local charity community together and celebrating the organisations working to make a difference across Bath and beyond. Your support for the sector is hugely valued.

Meet our Alternative Learning Hub team.

The Alternative Learning Hub (ALH) is the fourth step on our pathway of support, working with young people aged 14-16 who are at risk of exclusion or have been out of mainstream education for 18 months or more.

For young people who have struggled to find their place in mainstream education, the ALH offers something different: a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, build confidence, develop life skills and start to see a positive future.

Meet Jonathan, Bethan, Luke, Annie and Liam - the team helping young people work towards qualifications, develop their independence and find their next step.

And the results speak for themselves. Last year, 100% of our young people sat an exam for the first time and secured their next steps into further education, employment, or training.

Meet the Community team.
These are the people taking Bath Rugby Foundation into schools, clubs and communities across Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset and beyond, reaching young people where they are and making sure those who need our support can access it.

Last year, our Community team worked with more than 5,200 young people through Schools Partnership, the first step on our pathway of support.

Meet Jack, Pippa, Jack S and Jess - alongside more than 20 incredible Community Coaches who deliver sessions every week, using the power of sport to build confidence, develop life skills and create pathways to independence.

But this work is about far more than sport.

Our coaches provide social, emotional and practical support through 1-1mentoring, coaching and targeted intervention, helping young people build the confidence they need to engage with school, strengthen relationships and take their next steps.

And for some young people, Schools Partnership is just the beginning. Where a young person needs further support, we can help them move on to the next step of our pathway.

A day of sport, confidence and inclusion! 💙

We delivered a multi-skills Inclusion Festival at Whitstone School, in partnership with SASP, welcoming more than 30 young people with SEND to try new sports in a safe and supportive environment.
