Bath's Volunteer Fair next Thursday is a chance to explore the work of more than 50 local charities in the beautiful surroundings of Bath Abbey. Our CEO Ricky and other members of the team will there to chat about how we support people living with dementia and opportunities to get involved. Come along and say hello!

"I love volunteering at Peggy Dodd. I didn't know much about Alzheimer's or dementia when I started but I can see how much coming here helps people. Just having the company, the hot meal, it does make a difference and it is so good to be part of that."

Karen has volunteered at our day centre for more than a year, coming in once a week to chat to clients, serve lunches and morning coffees.

She said: "When I was looking to volunteer, I knew I didn't want to work in a charity shop, but wanted something more hands on, and to make a real difference. This has been perfect for me. I've got to know the clients and they are so appreciative. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out more about the people behind the illness. It is very rewarding."

It was lovely to share what we do with visitors from West Wales yesterday. Helen, Hannah, Gill and Sue are on a fact-finding mission to Bath and Wiltshire, looking for inspiration to set up their own services for people living with dementia and their families in Aberaeron. Nic and Ricky showed them around the day centre before they set off to find out more from our friends at Wiltshire charity Beyond Dementia.

It was a treat to meet such a lovely group working together to improve the lives of people in their community. Best of luck for the project - and please keep in touch!

Nothing beats the feeling of belonging. Here at Peggy Dodd our clients tell us every day how much the company of their friends, staff and volunteers at the centre lifts them. It's lovely to see the bonds of friendship form 💜

Parachute keepy-uppy is a favourite activity at the day centre. Colourful, engaging and guaranteed to raise our spirits - including the competitive ones!

Our new tree of life is both a beautiful piece of autumnal art and a chance for our clients to tell us what they think about coming to Peggy Dodd. The colourful leaves, acorns and owls were all created by the people we support, who dictated, or wrote, the thoughts alongside. We love the vibrant addition to the decor, and are moved by the heartfelt sentiments 🍁🧡

Exciting news from our friends at ReMind UK ...

A first for ReMind UK 💜 A milestone for dementia research 🔬

We’re delighted to be the first site in the UK and Europe to open the Tremhance study, a new clinical trial investigating a tablet treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

The study is being coordinated in the UK through ReMind UK and the UK Dementia Trials Network (UKDTN), alongside the Alzheimer's Society Research Nurse Programme, helping expand the reach of early-phase trials and create more opportunities for people affected by dementia to take part in research.

We’re proud to be a member of this growing network and to be contributing to the future of dementia research.
