Writing first Christmas cards. This one, going to someone special, is from and can be picked up from Book Shop on Broad Street, Bath today at the special Fables and Finds shopping da. Lots of local artisans, artists and makers are gifting proceeds to Dorothy House Hospice Care to support the vital work that goes on both at the Inpatient Unit in Winsley and in patients homes, through the brilliant team of Hospice at Home carers that work across our community. If there is one shop worth popping into today, to pick up a local, handmade, purposeful seasonal gift, then Dorothy House Bookshop is highly recommended. Open until 8.30 pm for late night shopping, with cocktails being served after 5.30 pm with thanks to and 🍸🍸🍸

A little ‘sustainable shopping’ haul from the warehouse sale in Corsham today - on until 1.30pm. Fill a bag for £10 and know that you are helping those in our community be well cared for at end of life, to live a good death.

September approaches and so does . We are pledging to only buy and wear second hand in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care] and the environment this month.

Here’s why:

Dorothy House Hospice Care provides invaluable palliative and end of life care for free to everyone in our community. That care is part funded by the NHS but in order to provide care in the community across a 700 square mile area, vital funds need to be raised through their retail sales, fundraising events and appeals. Sustainable is a fun and easy way to help them achieve that. Purposeful purchasing can make a real difference to patients’ end of life journeys.

The production of textiles contributes 10% of the world’s carbon emissions and since 2000 we have more than doubled the amount of clothes we are producing (source: McKinsey). If you can do one simple thing today to help the planet, STOP BUYING FAST FASHION and join the circular economy. Buy second hand.

Tomorrow evening the team At The Core are hosting a free event at their clinic off Walcot Street. Let’s talk Menopause! will be a chance to hear from local GP Claire Quiggin, sports therapist to Team GB at The London Olympics and Laura Clark, The Menopause Dietitian. There are just a few spots left to both the 2.30pm and 7.30pm sessions due to some last minute cancellations. You will find further details and links to reserve the final places in the story. There are many small businesses in Bath doing big things. With purpose. Last week reintroduced a colony of bees to Beehive Yard, as part of a wider sustainability initiative to create an important insect corridor between Bath and Bristol. Fantastic work 🐝
