2. This room has a large TV screen on the wall that can be linked to your laptop. It has it's own level access from the car park as well as access to a toilet with disabled access and a kitchenette. This room can be used for meetings, children's parties, yoga, pilates, craft groups etc. This room is £10 per hour to hire) x upto 30 people theatre style, x 40 for parties with no formal seating
3. Indoor Sports Hall (A large space with a marked badminton court and basketball hoops. We also have table tennis tables you can use, as well as a badminton net. This room can be used in conjunction with the cafe area for children's parties. This room is £15 per hour to hire, and for children's parties the cafe is included) x 40 people max depending on set up
4. Lavender Room (A small casual room with sofas and comfy chairs. This room is perfect for book club groups, contact sessions, counselling and therapy, smaller more informal meetings. It is accessible from the main cafe area. This room is £8 per hour to hire) x 8-10 people
5. Clover Room (A small more formal meeting room with a large boardroom table. This room is accessible from the main cafe area. Perfect for small meetings, therapy and counselling, small arts and craft groups. This room is £8 per hour to hire) x 8-10 people
6. Outside Court (Our Multi use Games Area is located at the back of the Hive. It has basketball nets and is available to hire for court sports, football, tennis etc. This area is £10 per hour to hire in the day and £15 to hire at nights with the floodlights on) x 40-50 people
We also have a range of services that operate from the Hive:
1. SWALLOW's cafe - Open 8.30am - 3.45pm from Monday to Thursday. Serving a wide range of hot and cold drinks, food and delicious homemade cakes. SWALLOWs are a charity who provide user-led support for teenagers and adults with learning disabilities. They have a prep day on a Monday so a reduced menu but are still open for drinks and cakes.
2. Post Office - The village Post Office is open Monday - Friday from 8.30am - 3.00pm and on a Saturday from 9.00am-12.30pm. The Post Office offer a full range of Postal Services as well as selling gifts made by local people, cards and lots of stationery items.
3. Community Library - The library are open on Monday's from 11am-3pm, Wednesdays from 2pm-4pm and Saturdays from 10am-1pm. There are over 700 books to browse, you can collect and return your BaNES books from here, there is a printing, photocopying and scanning service as well as internet access.
4. 'The Waggle' - At the Hive we publish a booklet 4 times a year to advertise local businesses and local events. To advertise in here please contact Katie at [email protected]
We have lots of things for the community in the Hive too....
1. Book Swap: A huge range of donated books of all types of genre available to borrow/takeaway for just 50p per book. We also take donations for the book swap, so if you have any old books in good condition please do drop them in.
2. Children's book Swap: A range of kids books that are available to read with your children in the Hive, or to take away for 50p per book. If you have any children's books you wish to donate we would happily take them!
3. Puzzles: We have a range of second hand puzzles for sale for just £2 per puzzle! We also welcome puzzle donations.
4. Childrens Play Area: We have a children's custom built play area for children aged 6 and under that is £1 per hour per child. It includes a play house, a ball feeding tube, a seesaw, a roundabout, a roller slide, a colour changing bubble tube and activity boards. You can book the play area online at www.thehivepsj.org or you can pay cash when you arrive if the play area is not full! The play area is available to hire for parties, and we can arrange SEN sessions if required. We have a fantastic youth club:
1. The youth club is open for young people from the age of 11-18 years old. It is on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's from 4.00pm-5.30pm in the Acacia Room. Crafts, computer games, food and drink and support from our dedicated youth workers. Community fridge and shelves: In the main cafe area we have a fridge and a set of shelves. This food is donated by members of the community, supermarkets and occasionally we have food left over from FareShare. This food is available to everyone and can be taken any time during our opening hours. It saves masses of food from going into the waste!
2. The Pantry: The Food Pantry runs every Friday. The food is supplied by FareShare. It is £3 to join and then £3 per week and you get a big basket of food! Again this stops food going to the waste.
3. Food bank: We do not run the food bank from the Hive, this is run on a Friday from Peasedown St John Methodist Church. However we have a food bank basket, and donations are most welcome. We also offer:
