We have just 8 days left of our Nature Needs You campaign! This week we want to show you two parks where long-term volunteer care has made a real difference 💚
Brickfields Park in Bath was once a brickworks, clay pit and refuse tip. Today, it contains wildflower meadows, a wildlife pond, dead hedges and more than 580 trees. It's not happened overnight, we've been working there since 2021.
The new habitats across the park provide wildlife with food, water and shelter. The pond is especially important because water is so often the missing need for nature in our urban parks. Just look at how much it's thriving!
This year with your support our staff and volunteers will care for 4,600m² of land here, including repairing the pond lining with careful hand work around the pond edges and wildflower plug planting.
Brickfields is the perfect example of how previously damaged land can become vital urban habitat, but only when people continue to look after it every year 🫶
