The new home of M3 Job Club.

On Friday 9th October we held our first session in our new location at Sycamore Community Centre, Basingstoke.

Overall, it went swimmingly; yeah, there were a few little hiccups, but our amazing members also stepped in with their support and donations of some items to help make the opening session, a successful one.

With the new projector from a donation and a flipchart from another donation, the session went ahead on time and delivered to the usual excellent quality from our superb presenters.

With the additional space, it means members could move about, mingle and network in groups, which is a critical element of our sessions.

Ashwood Hall is a much larger, self-contained space offering fast Wi-Fi and a large projection screen. Thanks to two amazingly kind donations, we have a new 4k projector and flipchart.

We can now provide our superb volunteer experts better space and better tools to deliver their invaluable session in an improved environment to with even greater benefit to our members.

BIG THANK YOU to Nicky C who donated £100 + Gift Aid with a matched donation from which I am delighted to confirm it takes us over £1k.

The average donation amount is ~£51, which is amazing. My target is in 24 days, and it's taken me a month to get to 1k, so this would mean I'd take another 14 months to get my full target. Yikes...

If you can donate or share (link below) I'd be very grateful.

In addition, if there are any local companies who would like to utiilse their skills and expertise in digital media who'd like to partner with us, gain some promotion, utilise the opportunity to let their inner creativeness free, then we should talk.

Okay, it won't be for an invoice at the end of the day, which is important, but it's for more than that. It's for knowing that you are making a meaningful difference to people who are at a time of need where our information can help make a difference.

When one hits a point in time where we wish we could just reach out to get information or support, we tend not to ask as there's a cost or pride takes over. At M3 Job Club we are there for that moment and this money helps us bring more information to those in need who just need to know what, where, how and we'd love to create this service for those moments.

Can you help us achieve this miletone?

Why?

For 15 years, we've been supporting people back into work who have lost their job mainly through redundancy.

Every week we speak to people and feel their pain, anxiety, fears and concerns. It's in times like this where our senses become heightened by increasing costs, our mortgage, going out, etc. and just those things, exacerbate those fears.

This is about money.

Whether you've got a lot or a little, we all feel it in our own way, and we never seem to really prepare for that rainy day, that is, until it rains. But then, it's too late. It's raining!

Because we see this often, we got with who accepted our bid to be able to do some crowdfunding to raise funds to help us create a new online digital programme, to add greater value to our members of our weekly onsite programme.

We want to share more information to help our members with their financial wellbeing by creating informative content to help them make more informed decisions about tax, pensions, claiming from JCP, etc. We are not financial experts, but we will give initial information that our members can then follow up and speak to a professional, qualified person.

Our members pay nothing! All our volunteers, trustees, presenters, supporters, etc. all do so through donating their time and expertise, for which we are immensely grateful. All monies raised go to things we have to pay for to provide the service.

So, you’ve been made redundant.

For some, it will have come as a complete shock. For others, it will bring fear, anxiety and panic and no idea what to do next. Maybe some, this may even be a sense of relief.

Wherever you find yourself, the good news is that support is available. M3JC is a real community of like-minded people, supported by incredible expert presenters who have been there, seen it and got the T-shirt. You are not alone, and each week we are here to help you through.

At this stage, there are likely more questions than answers. For the first week or two, if you can, give yourself some space to come to terms with what has happened. Then start your journey.

For most people, that will mean just looking for the next job. Others may explore working for themselves, taking on some consulting work or moving towards semi-retirement. Whichever route you take, use this time to review, reset and rethink what you want to do and what you actually need and value.

We want to help more people access the information they need to make better decisions. That is a key reason why we are crowdfunding. One of the biggest challenges after redundancy is managing your finances and understanding what you can claim what support is available and what steps to take.

We are seeking funding to develop a new digital online programme alongside our main programme. It will help us reach more members and give them more in-depth, practical information they can act on.

We are close to reaching our first £1,000. Can you help us get there?

Redundancy is not just a career setback. For many people, it can feel like a sudden loss of confidence, routine, identity and security.

For more than 15 years, M3 Job Club has supported people through that moment not as a recruitment agency, not as a networking club, and not as part of any government agency.
We are a people community.

A place where people can be honest about what they are going through. Where job titles and status are left at the door. Where people listen because they understand the uncertainty, rejection and anxiety that can come with losing work.

Every week, volunteers, business leaders and specialists give their time freely to help people rebuild confidence, regain perspective, learn new skills and take practical steps back towards employment and financial wellbeing.

At M3JC, no one has to pretend everything is fine.
You can be yourself.
No airs. No graces. No judgement.
Just people helping people move forward.

We are fundraising through the to launch a new digital service focused on financial wellbeing, especially for those impacted by redundancy. It’s not something people think about in the ‘safety’ of work. Until you need to.

Our first target will help us release around 24 sessions. To make that happen, we need support with the real costs of videography, editing and production. If we could get sponsorship to help us build this new online service that would be the perfect. However, the reality is we need to raise money to get this done, so here we are.

We have raised just over £600 so far, but there is still a LONG way to go.

We Are Moving!

From Friday 9 October, our Friday programme will take place at Ashwood Hall, Sycamore Community Centre.

Our final session at Ridgeway Community Centre will be Friday 2 October. Ridgeway has been a good home for us, and we’re grateful for the years we’ve spent there.

As our membership has grown and sessions have become more practical and group‑based, we’ve simply outgrown the space.

Sycamore allows us to run Fridays the way our members experience them today, but it gives us more room, comfort and better digital setup we need to deal with the numbers and format.

We’ve received a generous donation of AV equipment to support the move, but we still need to source one final item, a U‑frame flip chart easel ~£110 and A1 pads (approx. £15 for 5). Can you or someone you know help.

Same programme, same team; just a better space for everyone.

Most of us build our lives around the reassurance of a monthly wage.

It is the rhythm that keeps the mortgage or rent paid, the food shop covered, the direct debits moving, the school costs managed, the car on the road, and the break you promised yourself or your family because you worked hard all year.

Then imagine being told, suddenly, that your role is redundant. No next pay date. No certainty. No simple answer to the question, “How long can we keep everything going?” That holiday may have to go. The house payments may need to be rethought. Savings suddenly have a deadline. Every bill feels louder.

And while people may say, “just update your CV and apply for jobs,” the reality is far more human than that.

Redundancy does not only remove a job. It can take away routine, confidence, belonging, company benefits, financial stability and your sense of direction all at once.

Created from lived experience, the M3 Job Club supports people through the reality of redundancy: not just how to look for work, but how to understand what has happened, rebuild self-belief, ask better financial questions, and make informed decisions while finding a way back into employment. We create the community that’s there to support you, who’ve got your back.

We are crowdfunding to add more financial wellbeing support to our free 16-week programme, helping people know what to ask about tax, pensions, healthcare, benefits, budgeting, claims, discounts and the practical support available when income suddenly changes.

If you are in work today, please pause for a moment and imagine if that monthly wage stopped next month. What would you do. If you have been made redundant, you will know this feeling already.

Our goal is: £15,610. So far £490 has been raise, leaving £15,120 still to go.

We know when you’re out of work that giving to charity is not a priority. So, we're asking you to share this with anyone in your network who may be able to afford it, and they know they are supporting you attending M3JC. Any donation will double thanks to AvivaCommunityFund. So far, they’ve helped donate £245.

We know we’ve got a long way to go on our goal, but we’ve been fighting for 15 years, and we’ll continue to do that to achieve our ambition to extend our value whatever way we can.
