We had a great Spring Bake Off on Friday! 🌸🍰

What a delicious spread of bakes—there were so many amazing treats to enjoy. Even better was the great company and lovely chats throughout.

A big well done to our winner Rod and runner-up Lorraine—we really enjoyed your beautiful cakes!

Thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a fun and friendly event!

For many of us, the hardest part of chatting isn’t talking — it’s knowing how to begin.

At a Chatty Café table, there’s no right or wrong way to start. A conversation can be as simple and gentle as:

✨ “It’s nice to sit here for a while, isn’t it?”
✨ “Have you been here before?”
✨ “How do you find the area?”
✨ “Is this a good spot for a cup of tea?”
✨ “It’s okay to just listen too.”

These open-ended starters don’t demand answers — they simply open the door.

Whether you’re a volunteer or someone joining us for the first time, remember:

💛 Silence is welcome
💛 Every conversation starts differently

Big congratulations to Roderick, Amy and Shirley for winning our Chatty Table Bake Off at Café in the Park. 🍰🧁🥮

We’ve had such a lovely time tasting all the wonderful bakes – Dundee cake, shortbread, scones and gingerbread , swirls– but as always, the chats were just as good as the cakes ☕🍰

A huge thank you to everyone who’s popped in over the past year to sit, chat, laugh and share stories. The Chatty Table really wouldn’t be the same without you.

The café is now closed for a little break and will reopen on 7th January. We can’t wait to see you all again then for more good company and great conversation.
