Basingstoke Creative Stitchers AGM
* CHANGE OF VENUE*
Our AGM wil take place on Thursday 24th september at
St Bedes Church, Popley Way, Basingstoke RG24 9DX
Hall will be open from 12.30. The church is sign posted on Popley Way. Parking available on site.
The AGM will Commence at 1.30 followed by our speaker Sue Crook – “Then I discovered dyeing”
Tea and coffee will be available.

Do you remember Brian May Rocking on the roof of Buckingham Palace for Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee? Hand & Lock created the embroidery for the Jacket. Here are some samples of the machine embroidery. An imense amount of design work goes into the machine embroidery.

Examples of Tambour work we saw on the tour of Hand & Lock. They offer courses on tambour and other typesof embroidery both in person and on line. I hope to do the tambour course in the future.

These are samples worked by Hand & Lock for King Charles Coronation. on the left is the pattern of Queen Camilia's shoes beautifully embroidered though under her gown were not seen.

Earlier this week some of our members had an excursion to London for a guided tour of Hand & Lock a long established company in the world of Fashion and Military Embroidery . Freya our tour guide gave us a very informative talk and slide show of the company's history and various projects. One of those projects was for Burberry who have a long history with Basingstoke - a link between our Town and Hand and Lock.

Inspiration:
We've always had a motorcycle in our home. And every year, I'm deeply moved watching the Isle of Man TT race on TV. I've drawn many designs to put on a quilt. I want to give this quilt as a gift to my husband, who loves motorcycles more than anything.

Materials:
Cotton, satin, velvet embroidery thread, Nishiki-ito

Technical Information:
Hand piecing, appliqué, embroidery Hand quilting

Best in Show Winner, Sung Yeon Park's Art Quilt, 'Silent Eyes'
Judges comments: "This quilt beautifully conveys the fragility and delicacy of the butterfly wing. The rich gradations of brown contrast well with the colourful accents. The clever use of corded trapunto adds structure and dimension of the piece."
