Castle-Hill Pre-school Basingstoke Castle Hill Pre-School opened in 1990 and operates from a portacabin within the site of Fort Hill Community School, in Winklebury, Basingstoke.

We are a charity based, committee-run pre-school, located in the grounds of Fort Hill Secondary School in Winklebury, Basingstoke; catering for up to 30 children at any one time. We pride ourselves on working closely together with parents and families to provide the best start for all our children. We are fully inclusive and offer support for a wide spectrum of individual needs.

Today we opened our munchkin pumpkins to explore how they look, smell and feel and to find out what is inside. The children then planted them in the curiosity cube and we look forward to watching them decay before hopefully sprouting new little pumpkins ready for next Halloween!

Hampshire Healthy Schools
Today we had a lovely visit from the Hampshire Healthy Schools team who taught the children about healthy eating, good oral hygiene and the importance of exercise and relaxation through stories, puppets, fun and games. The children were amazing and completely involved and the staff got very competitive during the hula hoops game!

We also have an exciting Halloween/Diwali/Fireworks craft afternoon coming up this term - details to be released to parents shortly, as well as Zoolab and a visit from the local police team after the half term break!

Some spaces are still available for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and we accept all funding.

2 weeks ago Castle Hill Preschool was targeted by a man and a woman with a dog. The man came into the playground and stole our last remaining football and gave it to his dog. Yet again on Friday 12th June at 4.45 3 children broke in ( we do have footage on our CCTV) and stole a tractor ( red engine cover was left behind as the broke it throwing it over our fence) , a red tricycle, 2 scooters and 2 more of our footballs that were kindly donated by one of our parents. We are a charity and cannot afford to replace our children’s favourite toys. As these weren’t left on the site we can only assume they were taken home. If your child came home with any of these toys we would appreciate you returning them or if you find them abandoned please let us know. These toys were for 2 to 4 year olds! Thank you to the young girl who contacted me when she saw what they were doing, unfortunately I must have just missed them when I got there. Thank you everyone and we hope someone out there can help us.

Today we were focusing on building core strength with the children. We took turns bouncing on the mini trampoline, throwing and rolling on the big exercise ball and learning how to move our bodies through the "doughnut" as our children have nicknamed the big round cushions! Core strength is so important for all aspects of our childrens development and doing it in a fun and supportive environment helps with:
Fine and Gross Motor Skills
Confidence and Risk Taking alongside exploration in how our bodies can move
Improved focus and attention
Sharing and turn taking
