Castle-Hill Pre-school Basingstoke

Castle-Hill Pre-school Basingstoke Castle Hill Pre-School opened in 1990 and operates from a portacabin within the site of Fort Hill Community School, in Winklebury, Basingstoke.

We are a charity based, committee-run pre-school, located in the grounds of Fort Hill Secondary School in Winklebury, Basingstoke; catering for up to 30 children at any one time. We pride ourselves on working closely together with parents and families to provide the best start for all our children. We are fully inclusive and offer support for a wide spectrum of individual needs.

Today we were focusing on building core strength with the children. We took turns bouncing on the mini trampoline, throwing and rolling on the big exercise ball and learning how to move our bodies through the "doughnut" as our children have nicknamed the big round cushions! Core strength is so important for all aspects of our childrens development and doing it in a fun and supportive environment helps with:
Fine and Gross Motor Skills
Confidence and Risk Taking alongside exploration in how our bodies can move
Improved focus and attention
Sharing and turn taking

Another day of exploration and creativity enjoyed by all. We are loving getting to know our new children, who have settled beautifully, as well as welcoming visitors too. We even had a squirrel climb inside the childrens wheelbarrow while searching for winter food 🐿!
