Basingstoke Shed

Basingstoke Shed Make things for the community and for yourself in a friendly local workshop. We often work on projects of benefit to the local community.

Basingstoke Shed is a larger version of a workshop shed in the garden – a place to pursue practical interests. The Shed offers members shared tools and resources to work on projects at their own pace in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue. We have two sites: one in the grounds of Everest Community Academy in Popley, Basingstoke. The other at Westside Community Centre in South Ham. If you might b

The founder of the Basingstoke Shed - Mike Brading - has died after a long illness.
Following a career in software and website development, Mike set up the Basingstoke charity in 2016. The organisation combats loneliness by offering workshop space and equipment for people to mend and make things for the local community. Schools, playgroups, the town's library and pantomime performers are among those who have benefited from the skills encouraged by the Basingstoke Shed.
Mike was a driving force, not only starting the charity, but also raising funds, attracting volunteers and generally keeping everything in order.
His funeral will be held on 29th January.

Members of the Basingstoke Shed have been delighted to help put together an Alice in Wonderland trail at The Vyne - National Trust.
The White Rabbit's pocket watch and a tempting bottle labelled "Drink me" are in the grounds of the historic house. They were made by volunteers working at the Shed's base at Everest Academy.
They'll be on display until January 5th 2025.
