Julian House Basingstoke

Julian House Basingstoke Providing outreach services for rough sleepers and homeless people within Basingstoke.

Support workers engage with people experiencing homelessness, who may be disconnected from mainstream services. BRIEF HISTORY
Julian House was originally founded in 1987 after a homeless man died on the streets of Bath. Following this tragic incident a number of the cities churches came together and decided that something needed to be done to help the homeless. Initially a series of ad hoc night s

helters were used but very quickly two things became apparent- theta the scale of the problem was much larger than they had thought, and it was very much a 365 day a year problem. Julian House has recently opened an office in the Orchard based in Basingstoke to address not only the symptoms of homelessness, but to tackle the underlying causes, including offending, substance misuse, mental health needs, physical health needs and unemployment. A community outreach team has been established within Basingstoke and we are working to provide support and assistance for rough sleepers. Julian House operates more than 20 different projects, accommodation sites and social enterprises in Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire, Devon and now Basingstoke.
