Helping Dogs and Cats Rescue C.I.C We are a non-profit animal rescue (CIC number1420295) based in Basingstoke and operate in Hampshire. Support us here: https://linktr.ee/hdcukrescue

Our journey began in 2018 when our Founder Kirsty Wrightson, established the rescue after losing her beloved dog, Millie. We rescue dog, cats, and other small animals in need of help. Our work includes rehoming and rehabilitation, veterinary care, microchipping, spaying, and neutering. All of the animals that come into our care first go into foster homes for assessment. Adopting a dog or cat or ot

her animal is a big decision and, in most instances, a long-term commitment. To help you answer any questions you may have we have created an FAQ guide. https://helpingdogsandcatsuk.org/faqs-1

Application Forms can be found https://helpingdogsandcatsuk.org/application-forms

We are always desperate for more foster carers and welcome applications from cat and dog loving people within Basingstoke and surrounding areas of Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire. https://helpingdogsandcatsuk.org/fostering

With the cost-of-living crisis the rescue has seen an influx of cats and dogs needing to be rehomed. The rescue has set up a food bank for pets supporting individuals and families who maybe struggling to cover the cost of looking after their pets. Our small team is staffed by volunteers, who are true animal lovers and passionate about animal welfare. We receive no government funding and depend entirely on the generosity of our supporters. Every penny we receive goes directly to helping dogs and cats. https://helpingdogsandcatsuk.org/donate

If you are in need of our help, would like to make a donation or are interested in fostering or volunteering with us, you can contact us 01256 593373, via email at [email protected] or view our website https://helpingdogsandcatsuk.org/

To date we have rescued and rehomed over 1300 dogs and cats, with many still more needing our help.

We are looking for a calm, experienced foster home for Motty, a lovely little 2 year and 9 month old Cavapoo who needs someone confident and understanding to help guide him.

Motty has lots of potential, but he does currently display:

🍖 Food guarding
🧸 Toy/resource guarding
⚠️ He does have a bite history, so he will need experienced handling and ongoing work in the right environment.
🐾 He is not neutered.

The positive side is that he will trade and swap toys/items, which gives us a really good foundation to work from. He simply needs experienced handling, clear boundaries, sensible management and continued positive training while he learns.

🏡 We are looking for:
✔️ Resource guarding experience
✔️ Calm, structured home environment
✔️ Adults or older sensible teenagers only
✔️ No young children
✔️ No cats
✔️ Someone comfortable using positive reinforcement and trade-based management
✔️ Foster or foster with a view to adopt considered

He needs someone who can see the potential in him and help build his confidence safely and fairly.

Please fill in our foster application form below if you feel you could offer the right environment for him.

We have lots of gorgeous kittens nearly ready to find their forever homes! 🐾❤️

These little bundles of fun are currently growing, playing, and being spoiled while they wait for their final preparations. Before they leave us, each kitten will be vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, ensuring they're ready for a happy and healthy start in their new family.

With so many adorable faces to choose from, we want to know... which one is your favourite? 😍 Share your pick in the comments below!

If you’re able to support their journey, donations towards food, worming, and flea treatments are always hugely appreciated. We’re also actively looking for foster homes, so if you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is a wonderful time to get in touch and help give these kittens the best possible start in life. 🐱✨

🐾 Meet Pippa 🐾

Say hello to Pippa, a beautiful 7-month-old girl who is fully vaccinated and spayed, and ready to find her forever home.

Pippa is a sweet, happy little cat with an impressively loud purr and a big personality. She loves spending time with her people, exploring every corner of the house and showing off her favourite toys. Don't be surprised if she proudly brings you a toy and makes sure you know all about it!

While Pippa enjoys affection, she prefers fuss and strokes on her own terms. She's not much of a lap cat, but she loves being close by and will happily nudge her head and body against you for attention and company.

Pippa can be a little shy when meeting new people and likes to take things at her own pace but once she feels comfortable, her loving nature shines through. She is playful and can sometimes give gentle scratches or nibbles during play, so she would be best suited to a home with older children only.

If you think Pippa could be the perfect addition to your home, get in touch to find out more and arrange to meet this gorgeous girl.

💔 A Heartfelt Update From Helping Dogs and Cats CIC 💔

This past week alone, we have been asked to take in over 30 cats. More than half of these have been genuine emergency and urgent welfare cases. Every single one breaks our hearts, and every single one deserves help.

Unfortunately, we have now reached a point where we simply cannot safely take on any further emergency cat cases at this time.

As a rescue, we have a responsibility not only to the animals waiting to come in, but also to those already in our care. Many of the cats needing rescue have underlying health issues, have come from neglectful situations, or require veterinary treatment and assessment before they can be placed into foster homes or introduced to other animals. We cannot risk spreading illness or overwhelming our foster carers by taking in more animals than we can safely support.

One thing we will never do is overload our foster homes or compromise animal welfare. The cats already in our care deserve the best possible chance of recovery, rehabilitation and rehoming, and that means knowing our limits.

Sadly, the cancellation of the Bark in the Park Dog Show due to the extreme heat also meant we lost a significant amount of the fundraising income we had hoped would help cover our ever-growing veterinary bills. We made the difficult decision to cancel because the welfare of the dogs had to come first, but it has left a huge financial gap for the rescue.

As a result, any new cat surrender requests will now be placed on a waiting list until spaces become available.

Right now, we desperately need:

🐾 Foster homes for cats and kittens
🐾 Safe outdoor cat accommodation or cattery-style spaces
🐾 Monthly donors to help cover neutering, vaccinations, veterinary treatment and emergency care
🐾 Donations towards the construction of our additional cattery facilities
🐾 Supporters willing to fundraise, volunteer or spread the word

The reality is that we are receiving more and more welfare cases, abandoned animals and requests for help than ever before. In fact, we are now seeing some of the largest welfare and abandonment cases being directed to us, while other organisations are unable or unwilling to take them on.

We are trying everything we can to create more space, raise more funds and help as many animals as possible, but we cannot do it alone.

If you have ever considered fostering, now is the time. One spare room, one safe space, one open heart could save a life.

And if you are able to make a regular monthly donation, no matter how small, it genuinely helps us continue saying “yes” to the animals who need us most.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Helping Dogs and Cats CIC. We know these updates are difficult to read, but we always believe in being honest and transparent with our supporters.

Together, we can help more animals. Without you, we simply couldn’t do what we do. ❤️

🚨 URGENT – FOSTER HOMES NEEDED FOR ADULT CATS 🚨

Our adult cats need your help. Right now, we are desperately short of foster homes, and without more fosterers, we may not be able to help cats that urgently need somewhere safe to go.

Adult cats are often overlooked in favour of kittens, but they deserve the same chance at a happy future. Many are affectionate, litter-trained, and simply looking for a calm place to relax while they wait for their forever homes. ❤️

Could you help? You will need:
🐾 To be pet-free or
🐾 Have a spare room where a foster cat can stay safely away from other animals
🐾 A little time, patience, and lots of love

Why foster?
🏡 You provide a safe haven for a cat in need
💛 You help them prepare for their forever home
🐱 You free up rescue space so we can help more cats
✨ You genuinely save lives

We provide support throughout the fostering period and are here to help every step of the way.

📩 If you think you could foster, please get in touch for more information.

If fostering isn't possible for you right now, please share this post. The right person might see it because of you.

A spare room can save a life. Please help us help them. ❤️🐾

Fostering a dog doesn’t just save one life — it creates space to save another. 🐾❤️

Opening your home, even temporarily, gives a dog the chance to feel safe, loved, and ready for their forever family. From shy pups learning to trust to playful dogs finally getting a second chance, fostering truly changes lives — theirs and yours.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your sign. A little time and love can make the biggest difference. 🐶✨
