New Life Wood is a registered charity for South Essex working to change lives by helping to relieve unemployment and poverty. Supported by local churches, we provide work placement opportunities in the community for adults who find it difficult to access the job market and often fall into poverty, especially those with a past history of offending, addiction and mental health problems. Through this

work experience in our not for profit wood recycling project we offer training, mentoring and life/employment skills as well as day to day money management support and guidance. Putting it simply, we take lives and goods that others would discard, and provide the means to see those lives and goods renewed and become a valued part of our community. As an organisation we wish to reflect our Christian ethos, and help to transform, restore and enrich lives. We aim to offer our work placements an invitation, in a non-pressurised loving environment, to learn more about the Christian Faith which underpins our work. Each work placement volunteer is free to choose whether or not they would like to explore this opportunity further. KOOL CARERS. CHARITY SHOP 69 Hart Road .Thundersley.
One Saturday morning in February we had a visit from the ladies involved with this great little charity whilst they were walking their dogs. I showed them what we can do and it went like this.
Site visit , sizes taken. Ideas proposed. Sketches and a basic plan because that’s all it needed to create the vision they had. Every team member and every placement we have got involved with the construction of the sales counter, the central toy display, the clothes gondolas and the wall shelves. It was a challenge for the space we had so we dropped things off as complete so they could get on with displays and we could get on with the next item. The shop launched today and for the little space they had they have created something very lovely for the community . Well done everybody. Shop now open. Workshop now ready for some more items . We wish you all the best from Team New Life Wood.

Unusual task.
Another satisfied customer. Patrick a martial arts expert contacted us to see if we could restore his Wing Chun Jong base. Third generation owner Patrick was very pleased with the result . Very impressive and graceful to watch it being used showing true discipline to the martial art in our workshop in Wat Tyler Park. Dismantled and carefully taken away with a smile on his face.

Hadleigh Methodist church external notice boards . Saved and restored to stand proud for many years to come. They received the NEW LIFE WOOD treatment. Dismantled , dried, sanded bare , rotten timber replaced. Stain applied, 3 coats of varnish, new acrylic glass. New cork and back panels. New pyrography writing burnt in Refitted. Customer happy. This tested the skills of all of the placements and workshop team. A job well done.

Customer satisfaction at its finest. We had a lovely lady come to us wanting a sign for her business . Some reclaimed hardwood got a new life. BLOOMING BOUQUETS. Complete with a bumble bee and a strawberry all scribed on with “pyrography”

Today we got to see the big strawberry’s dipped in Belgium chocolate and decorated. That’s what you call a bouquet . Thank you Sally blooming bouquets

Another satisfied customer. 10no bespoke planters all delivered on time to a project in Canada Water London. Constructed from recycled timber including pallets and treated so they last. These will look fantastic when in place and full of flowers .
A job that involved the whole team . Well done all! Now if anybody wants planters or anything else please get in touch and give us the opportunity to keep doing what we do.

Today we said a fond farewell to our New Life Wood manager Pete.

As you can see from the pics, Pete is rather fond of cake!

After almost 6 years with the charity, Peter will be taking on a new challenge as a full time foster carer

Peter said: “I have had the most amazing few years seeing the charity grow from day one to become a real source of hope for so many. I feel super blessed and privileged to have been able to play my part in seeing lives changed, and have many wonderful memories of a very special place full of equally special people”.

We are pleased to say that our new General Manager Daren has already started, and will look forward to welcoming customers both old and new at our Pitsea shop.
