🌟Meet Finley🌟

Finley is now 2 years old. In April 2025, shortly after his 1st birthday, his family became concerned when he was being sick at 4 - 5am every morning. After multiple hospital visits, he was transferred to the RVI in Newcastle, where a CT scan confirmed their worst fears.
Finley was diagnosed with ATRT, an aggressive brain cancer.

Since then, Finley has been through so much. His treatment has included two brain surgeries - one to remove the tumour and another to drain excess fluid and insert an Ommaya reservoir - as well as months of intensive chemotherapy, chemotherapy injected into his Ommaya 12 times, stem cell harvest, three rounds of high-dose chemotherapy with stem cell rescue, blood and platelet transfusions, lumbar punctures, scans, and many procedures under general anaesthetic.
After finishing treatment, Finley rang the bell and has since had two stable scans.

Although the tumour and treatment have affected his balance and coordination, Finley is working incredibly hard with physiotherapy, and his family are hopeful he will be walking very soon. He will continue to have MRI scans every 3 months, as the chance of relapse is still high.

His family say they feel incredibly lucky that he is still here and are making the most of every moment.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗💛

To kick off the month, we’re sharing the Signs and Symptoms of Childhood Cancer and encouraging parents and carers to take a moment to familiarise themselves with what to look out for.

Many of these symptoms can also be caused by other, much more common conditions, but it’s always worth knowing the signs, just in case.

Send it to your family, your friends, your school or nursery WhatsApp groups - anywhere it might reach another parent or carer. The more people who know what to look out for, the more awareness we can create.

🌟Meet Ronnie🌟

Ronnie was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk Neuroblastoma on 2nd September 2025 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, just 4 months after his 3rd birthday.

His symptoms began on 20th August, when he suddenly started limping. He stopped walking and was crawling because he was in so much pain. At the time, this was his only symptom and his family had no idea what was ahead.

Scans later showed Ronnie had 2 tumours - one in his left femur, which caused him to become non-mobile, and another in his left abdomen.

After having a central line fitted, Ronnie began chemotherapy and his family said this was when everything became very real. He lost a lot of weight, so after his second cycle he needed an NG tube to help him eat.

Ronnie went through more than 30 bags of chemotherapy before surgery, followed by intense high-dose chemotherapy. During this time, he developed VOD, which caused fluid to build up inside his body and left him extremely unwell. He spent 7 weeks in isolation, barely eating and in so much pain.

His mum, who was 6 months pregnant when Ronnie was diagnosed, said there were times she honestly didn’t think he would make it home.

Ronnie has had to learn to walk again and was referred to physiotherapy. He has also had radiotherapy and went on to have immunotherapy over 6 months.

Along the way, Ronnie had 2 relapse scares when he struggled to walk on the same leg again, but urgent scans thankfully showed no relapse.

Heartbreakingly, Ronnie’s family have now been told that he has relapsed.
After everything he has already faced, Ronnie is still so brave every single day. His family could not be prouder of him.

🌟 Meet Abigail 🌟

Abigail was just 4 years old when she was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in September 2023, the day before her sister’s 10th birthday.

Her treatment included surgery to remove the tumour, central line insertion and removal, o***y cryo-preservation, and 6 rounds of high-dose chemotherapy, including a bone marrow transplant. Abigail also needed an NG tube during treatment.

In April 2024 Abigail finished treatment, and on 30th July 2024, she rang the bell She is now 7 years old and currently has No Evidence of Disease.

As a side effect of treatment, Abigail has hearing loss and now wears a hearing aid.

🌟 Join Us in September for the ‘Go Gold, Shine Bright’ Campaign! 🌟

Throughout September Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund will be spreading awareness about childhood cancer.

Each day, we’ll be sharing the story of a brave child who has faced cancer, along with important information about different types of cancer, signs, and symptoms.

These incredible children will be wearing one of our yellow T-shirts saying, “Lennox Star,” 💛

We would love if you could leave a kind comment to show your support and encouragement - it means the world to them.

Let’s come together to honor these amazing kids and raise awareness.

Help us turn Essex gold this September 💛

This September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re hoping to spread as much awareness as possible through our Go Gold, Shine Bright campaign!!

Throughout September, you’ll be able to spot our Go Gold stickers on coffee cups, drinks and takeaway packaging across Essex, thanks to some amazing local cafés and businesses getting involved.

If you see one, please take a photo and tag us - we would love to see everyone getting involved and helping us shine a light on childhood cancer. Every tag, share and conversation helps raise awareness for the children and families affected by it.

We’ll be announcing ALL of the lovely coffee shops and businesses taking part closer to September, so keep an eye out. 👀💛

We recently welcomed Mabel and her family to the New Forest for a respite break 🌳💛

Mabel is 6 years old and was diagnosed with ALL at the age of 5 - she is currently still undergoing treatment.

Mabel’s mum, Lauren, said:
"We were very lucky to have Momentum charity help us when work was being done at home and our daughter couldn’t be here, however the work was delayed so they got in touch with Lennox and they very kindly allowed us access to their beautiful home the following week and we are so very grateful for this! We had an amazing time and would love to visit again!"

We love being able to work alongside other charities like Momentum to make sure families get the support they need, when they need it. 💛
