Behind every fundraising event, every stocked shelf, every warm welcome and every act of kindness at St. Luke’s Hospice, there’s an incredible volunteer helping to make it happen.
This volunteer’s week we are proud to celebrate the amazing people who continue to make St. Luke’s Hospice the special place that it is, just like our volunteer Sue, whose family have supported St. Luke's Hospice since it was founded.
"My family have supported St. Luke's Hospice since the beginning, firstly by supporting 'Buy a Brick' which was a small donation of just 25p each brick, to attending the original Open Gardens at the Basildon Hospice. Since leaving work in 2016, I wanted to use my skills to 'give something back' in my community, so I decided to volunteer for St. Luke's Hospice and started in the Fundraising Team 1 day a week. The jobs I've done have been varied and very enjoyable. I now also volunteer as the Clinical Outpatients Receptionist 2 mornings a week and love every minute meeting all the different people that come in." - Sue, Trust & Major Gifts Volunteer and Receptionist Volunteer.
