For compassionate people, we tend to love BIG. š„ When we commit, we are ALL in. And this is a beautiful thing, exceptā¦when itās not.
Because sometimes we commit to someone (or something) who isnāt able to treat us with the basic respect we deserve. š„ŗ
Sometimes we commit to someone (or something) that seems great at first, but turns out to be unable to show up for the relationship. ā¹ļø
For loyal loving hearts, this is often something weā¦donāt wanna know.
Soā¦we donāt set boundaries.
Because we canāt. š
As long as we donāt set any boundaries, we can keep living in our pretend world of, āeverythingās fine ā itāll all work out.ā š«£
If we set actual boundaries, weāre going to have to face their response to them.
And then weāre going to have to do something about that. š„
Sometimes it feels easier to justā¦not.
But this keeps us firmly locked in a cycle of denial, hurt and misery.
When thereās no easy answer, sometimes that is the answer:
Thereās no easy answer.
And thatās good to know.
Because it helps us refine our boundaried questions:
What behaviors of mine will keep me stuck in a cycle of misery and hurt?
What behaviors of mine will (safely) move me closer to the life I want in the long-term?
And that helps us find our boundaries.
Even if they hurt a bit at first. Which they probably will.
