Keep your eyes open folks! This is happening far too often these days. ☹️

STOLEN: We’re absolutely gutted to say that our much-loved Land Rover was stolen during the night of 29th September, from just off Lancaster Road. 💔

It’s been part of The Vic family for many years and plenty of you would have recognise it from when it sat alongside the pub a while back on our little corner of Hitchin.

It’s an olive green Land Rover Defender, with a silver roof rack, white wheels, dark grey wheel arches and front grille. It’s pretty distinctive, so we’re really hoping somebody may have seen it either on the night or since.

The theft has been reported to the police, who are reviewing CCTV, and we’re also contacting neighbours locally to see what might have been picked up on private cameras and doorbells.

We’d be incredibly grateful for the support to help us find it. If you see the vehicle, please get in touch with us asap. Even a small detail about where or when you saw it could help.

A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to us locating and recovering the Land Rover.

Please share far and wide. We’d really, really like to bring this member of The Vic family home. 🙏💔

Some of our team had a great time in Norfolk at our family social and green laning weekend. We camped at Bircham Windmill☕️🍞🍳🥞🥟🍰🍩🐑🐐🫏 campsite which is a fantastic location with great facilities. There were plenty of lanes to drive followed by relaxing around the campfire with one of our team cooking pizzas and of course marshmallows roasted on the fire.

Many thanks to Johnny for organising the event and leading our little off-road convoy.

This weekend a few of our team members ventured further afield to the Yorkshire Dales for a weekend green landing and camping. This was a great opportunity to improve Low Traction skills as well as see the amazing landscape and have a great time.

Well done and thanks to all our team that supported us at the CentralBeds offices at an event with our partner organisations and member organisations of the local resilience forum with BLEVEC. We had a great opportunity to show our assets, see the other organisations assets and hear how they work and what they can offer.

It was great to see the Bedfordshire Lord Lieutenant and speak to her and see her deputies trying their skill on our RC car off-road course.

And thanks to RRT UK for doing what they do best with great coffee!

Well done to our team yesterday that managed the car parking at air show. An amazing job team.

And it was great to see the high speed guest Typhoon courtesy of the RAF. A very impressive and loud display of the planes abilities.

A great evening of flood training even if we did have to improvise our own mini flood! We covered both electric and petrol power pumps, both in a theory session and practical session.

🚙 HELP US GROW OUR TRAINING SITE DIRECTORY

We’re looking to expand our directory of suitable training locations in and around the Cranfield / Marston Moretaine area.

We’re looking for car parks, yards or similar spaces that we can use as a base for our 4x4 Response training and sign-off.

This isn’t about off-roading on the site. We simply need a suitable base where our team can arrive, carry out the relevant training activities, and return to. No driving around fields or going off-road is required.

We’ll respect the site at all times and leave it exactly as we found it.

If you own, manage or know of a suitable location that we could add to our directory, we’d love to hear from you.

🔥 4X4 RESPONSE SUPPORTING THOSE ON THE FRONT LINE 🚙

As wildfires continue to put huge demands on emergency services across the country, we want to recognise the incredible work of Fire & Rescue Services and all those working alongside them.

Across the UK, 4x4 Response groups are supporting wildfire operations, with trained volunteers using capable 4x4 vehicles to help move people, equipment and essential supplies across difficult terrain.

Whilst Beds & Cambs 4x4 Response isn’t currently deployed, our volunteers have specialist off-road training and the skills needed to provide additional support when requested — from transporting personnel and equipment to wider logistical assistance.

We don’t replace the emergency services. We provide extra capacity when it’s needed.

Proud to stand alongside our fellow 4x4 Response groups and the emergency response community.

Trained volunteers. Capable vehicles. Ready to support. 🚙🔥
