WHAT WE DO-
May 2026 Monthly Summary
May was another busy and successful month for 372 (Barry) Squadron, with cadets taking part in sporting competitions, community events, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award activities, and an educational visit.
Inter-Squadron Athletics – 10th May
Our cadets represented the squadron exceptionally well at the Wing Inter-Squadron Athletics Competition, achieving some fantastic results:
🥇 Cpl McKee – Shot Put
🥇 Cpl Norley – 200m
🥇 Flight Sergeant Lecoq – 800m and 1500m
🥇 Flight Sergeant Lecoq, Cpl Norley, Cpl Thomas and Cdt Griffin – Junior Women’s Relay
A special congratulations goes to our Junior Women’s Team, who finished 1st place overall in their category.
Thanks to the outstanding efforts of all our competitors, 372 Squadron finished 3rd overall out of 21 squadrons across the Wing. An excellent achievement and one we are all proud of.
Barry 10K – 17th May
Cadets supported the annual Barry 10K by assisting with the bag drop operation. Their role involved collecting runners’ bags before the race, organising them efficiently, and ensuring they could be quickly returned to participants after they crossed the finish line. The event provided valuable experience in teamwork and community service.
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Success – 17th–18th May
Congratulations to three of our cadets who successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition:
* Cdt Griffin
* Cdt McSwinney
* Cdt Turner
Well done to all three cadets for their hard work, determination, and resilience throughout the award programme.
Dinas Powys Rotary Club Classic Car Show – 25th May
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, cadets assisted the Dinas Rotary Club at their Classic Car Show in Sully. Duties included managing entry fees, manning the gates, welcoming guests, and helping organisers ensure the event ran smoothly throughout the day.
eCube Visit – 26th May
To round off the month, cadets visited eCube, where they were given an insight into the aviation industry. They observed the final stages of the aircraft lifecycle, seeing aircraft undergoing dismantling and recycling, while also learning about aircraft currently visiting the site for maintenance and servicing.
Well done to everyone involved, and we look forward to another exciting month ahead.
