⭐ Happy Volunteers’ Week 2026 ⭐

This week, we are proud to celebrate the incredible volunteers who make 372 Barry Squadron such a special place.

Every parade night, weekend activity, camp, event, and opportunity we provide is made possible by the dedication of our volunteer staff. Whether you’re instructing, organising, driving, planning behind the scenes, or supporting cadets on their journey, your commitment has a lasting impact.

You give your time, share your knowledge, and invest in the development of young people, helping them build confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and friendships that will stay with them for years to come.

To all our volunteers – thank you for everything you do. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and support are what keep our squadron thriving and ensure our cadets continue to have opportunities to learn, achieve, and succeed.

The success of 372 Barry Squadron is built on the dedication of people like you.

WHAT WE DO-

May 2026 Monthly Summary

May was another busy and successful month for 372 (Barry) Squadron, with cadets taking part in sporting competitions, community events, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award activities, and an educational visit.

Inter-Squadron Athletics – 10th May

Our cadets represented the squadron exceptionally well at the Wing Inter-Squadron Athletics Competition, achieving some fantastic results:

🥇 Cpl McKee – Shot Put
🥇 Cpl Norley – 200m
🥇 Flight Sergeant Lecoq – 800m and 1500m
🥇 Flight Sergeant Lecoq, Cpl Norley, Cpl Thomas and Cdt Griffin – Junior Women’s Relay

A special congratulations goes to our Junior Women’s Team, who finished 1st place overall in their category.

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of all our competitors, 372 Squadron finished 3rd overall out of 21 squadrons across the Wing. An excellent achievement and one we are all proud of.

Barry 10K – 17th May

Cadets supported the annual Barry 10K by assisting with the bag drop operation. Their role involved collecting runners’ bags before the race, organising them efficiently, and ensuring they could be quickly returned to participants after they crossed the finish line. The event provided valuable experience in teamwork and community service.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Success – 17th–18th May

Congratulations to three of our cadets who successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition:

* Cdt Griffin
* Cdt McSwinney
* Cdt Turner

Well done to all three cadets for their hard work, determination, and resilience throughout the award programme.

Dinas Powys Rotary Club Classic Car Show – 25th May

Over the Bank Holiday weekend, cadets assisted the Dinas Rotary Club at their Classic Car Show in Sully. Duties included managing entry fees, manning the gates, welcoming guests, and helping organisers ensure the event ran smoothly throughout the day.

eCube Visit – 26th May

To round off the month, cadets visited eCube, where they were given an insight into the aviation industry. They observed the final stages of the aircraft lifecycle, seeing aircraft undergoing dismantling and recycling, while also learning about aircraft currently visiting the site for maintenance and servicing.

Well done to everyone involved, and we look forward to another exciting month ahead.

WHAT WE DO -

April has been a busy month for 372 Squadron, with a range of activities and achievements across the unit.

On the 1st of April, cadets had the fantastic opportunity to visit Aston Martin in St Athan, where they enjoyed an insightful tour and learned how the cars are built from start to finish.

We were also pleased to see two well-earned promotions this month. Sergeant Lecoq was promoted to Flight Sergeant, and Cadet Harkin was promoted to Corporal. Congratulations to both on their hard work and dedication.

In shooting achievements, Cadet Hilton secured the top position in the air rifle league—an excellent accomplishment. Additionally, Cadet McSwinney and Cadet Hancock both earned their Blue and Bronze shot badges. Very well done to both cadets for their efforts and progress.

We are also proud to currently be placed 3rd in the DofE League and 4th in the Sports League—great work from everyone involved.

Overall, it has been a productive and successful month for the squadron.

If you want to join our incredible team and you are over 12 years old and in Year 8 or above, come along and get a taste of what we do!

We offer a huge range of activities including flying, gliding, adventure training such as climbing and mountain biking, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, sports, BTEC qualifications, STEM activities, shooting, drill and band, fieldcraft, annual camps and much more.

Don’t waste the summer being bored—come and join us for the adventure of a lifetime!
