In Loving Memory of Maurice Bramley

It is with great sadness that we share the news that one of our valued regulars at the Community Centre, Maurice Bramley, sadly passed away last week.

Maurice was a familiar and much-loved face around the centre, and he will be greatly missed by staff, volunteers, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His presence, friendship, and support of our community meant a great deal to us all.

Maurice’s funeral will take place on Friday 26th June at 2:30pm at Little & Cain Funeral Directors. Family, friends, and members of the community who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Maurice’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Maurice. You will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. ❤️

We have been made aware of this service from the council. Please share with anyone that might benefit from this.

🔧 Need a little help with those small but important jobs around the house?

Westmorland & Furness Council’s Handy Person Scheme offers practical support for older and vulnerable residents who are unable to carry out essential household tasks themselves and don’t have anyone available to help. Eligible households can access the service up to six times a year, with labour provided free of charge (you only pay for any materials needed). (westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk)

The scheme can help with jobs such as:
✅ Fitting grab rails and handrails
✅ Changing light bulbs
✅ Installing key safes and security locks
✅ Putting up shelves, curtains or blinds
✅ Minor plumbing repairs
✅ Fixing trip hazards and loose carpets

The service is available to residents aged 65+, people with disabilities, those recently discharged from hospital, individuals at risk of falls, and other vulnerable residents across Westmorland and Furness. It is available whether you own your home, rent privately, or live in social housing. (westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk)

This isn’t an emergency call-out service, but it can make a real difference in helping people stay safe, secure and independent at home. ❤️
