⭐It's Men's Health Week⭐

Did you know Severe Mental Illness (SMI) is higher in men, according to Public Health England? SMI covers Schizophrenia, Bipolar and Psychosis and has significant impacts on day to day life without support and understanding.

Individuals living with SMI have a higher risk of physical health conditions that can be fatal. Regular health checks support healthy living, and Mind in Furness can help with this.

We know accessing the GP can be difficult for a variety of reasons, and Sophie at Mind in Furness can help calling the GP, attending, and understanding results.

Today, we are celebrating Jon Byrne New's performance at our Big Green Week event last week. Jon speaks and sings from his experiences with mental health and his happiness performing again at his pace.

We are delighted to share some recordings of his music, and hope all can enjoy these. Get in touch with Jon for future gig opportunities, or Mind in Furness for events!

We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Councillor Fred Chatfield for choosing us, alongside Love Barrow Families, as his Charities of the Year. What a year it has been!

Last week, our Fundraising Manager, Georgia, had the honor of meeting Fred and Liz at the Town Hall to receive a cheque for the fantastic sum of £5650.

We are truly thankful for the support, generosity, and dedication shown by the Mayor and by everyone across the town who contributed to these fundraising activities.

This funding will help ensure that we can continue to provide support and resources to anyone experiencing a mental health problem in our community. Together, we are making a huge difference to the lives of so many.

Thank you so much from all of us at Mind in Furness!! 💙

Celebrating the success of our 🌿Big Green Week event 🌿last Friday!

A big thank you👏 to all the volunteers that helped manage the event, alongside the organisations that attended including National Trust, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Cumbria CVS and more.

Lots of visitors enjoyed music from Jon Byrne New 🎶 and plants with Mycelium Thinking. All in a beautiful and thriving garden at Mind in Furness. With kind donations and a plant sale, we raised ⭐£55⭐.

We thank Michelle Scrogham MP for Barrow & Furness for visiting our garden for this event and celebrating Big Green Week at Mind in Furness. 🌷

Our Mind Garden on School Street is open 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 11am-4pm Saturdays. It is cared for by volunteers, and anyone can take part in our conservation projects. Get in touch today!☎️

⭐It's Men's Health Week!⭐

According to the BUPA Wellbeing Index "50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice".

This is why raising awareness for men's mental and physical health, providing accessible support, and challenging stigma is important to Mind in Furness.

We offer a range of groups, one-to-ones, counselling, gardening and practical activities, workplace wellbeing advice, and physical health check support. All of which are available to anyone aged 18+.
