The bin collections still suffering off the back of losing Shaun in March 😩 .
Bins taken out of the compounds by the refuse collectors but rarely returned. Left in the alleys/surrounding streets for residents to walk up and down the estate searching for, some of whom are not physically able.
This week we litter picked and tidied the compounds.
Then our lovely resident and volunteer Tracy has made it her mission to sort the rest, making sure every compound has its correct bins in and also sorting the bin contents to make sure they get emptied.
The compounds themselves are a health and safety nightmare, thick with moss and slippy and wet underfoot.
Today Tracy has set out to do more to ensure residents can safely get to their bins without risk.
What a transformation!!
Come on Westmorland and furness council, get ahead of this.
I think Tracy deserves a medal!!

And it doesn't stop.
More flower beds on the estate filled with the new compost and some new donated bedding plants added.
The freshly dug over planter by The Ambrose looking really smart after the new additions.
Wow. What a lot of work. The side and memorial gardens have been cut.
If we could get a donation of another lawnmower and a strimmer, we could achieve even more around the estate.
The group has funded one lawnmower themselves and some hand edging shears but there's a lot of ground to cover, so a strimmer would really give us an edge 🙏
Thank you

Busy week of digging over, w**ding and adding the new compost to the planters on the estate.

What a difference our volunteers Tracy, Julie and Pauline have made 😍

So lovely to see the bees visiting and enjoying the many flowers that have now replaced the trampled, stone filled beds.

Busy week for the volunteers after the group received a much needed donation of 15 bags of compost to top up the planters on the estate 🙌

Not many flower beds left that haven't been taken over and adopted now on the estate.
This was another one Tracy dug over today next to the Ambrose.
If anyone wants to join in and help maintain the planters, just message the page and we'll arrange to meet and provide gloves and advice 🥰

How wonderful are we looking in comparison to the dry dusty w**d filled flower bed that was there before?

Busy litter pick today. 4 large bags collected but around 4 bins also filled with rubbish from the bin compounds that was on the floor.
Everywhere is looking neat and tidy again.
Lots of gardening maintenance ongoing around the estate whilst the weather is good. Weeding, watering and grass cutting. All makes a real visual impact. We even had someone photographing the flower beds, they're looking so nice now 🥰. Good that more people can appreciate all our hard work.

Great day for our litter pick today.
Good to see the council staff out grass cutting and collecting large waste and fly tipped items from our area.
4 bags collected today and more from Andy who carried on after we'd finished.
Thanks to all our helpers from today.

Another day, another w**ding session.
This time after work - 4 streets done followed by a delicious BBQ after.
Lots of company and hands around to help. Kids all out in the sunshine and a fantastic opportunity to socialise and make further improvements to where we live.
