πŸ’œ Carers Week at Carer Connect πŸ’œ

Yesterday at our Carer Connect group, we took some time to celebrate Carers Week with a few well-deserved treats, good company, and an important conversation about self-care.

Caring for someone you love can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. As carers, it's easy to put everyone else's needs first, but looking after yourself is not a luxuryβ€”it's essential.

✨ Self-care is not selfish. You matter too. ✨

If you are caring for someone living with dementia in Windermere or the surrounding areas, we'd love to welcome you to our friendly Carer Connect group. It's an opportunity to meet others who understand, share experiences, access support, and take some time for yourself.

To find out more about the support available or to join the group, please call 01229 444407.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week.

When you are navigating life-limiting illness, caregiving, or grief, isolation can feel heavy. But feeling lonely is just a human reminder that we need connectionβ€”and you don't have to carry it by yourself.

Our Compassionate Community Hub is a safe, gentle space where you can just be.

We have something for everyone, including:

Our Compassionate CafΓ© – for a warm drink and friendly chat.
The Hub Choir – to lift your spirits through song.
Art, Craft & Wellbeing Groups – a gentle way to connect while doing something you enjoy.
There is no pressure to put on a brave face here.

Want to find out more or join one of our wellbeing groups? Call us on 01229 444407 for details. We’d love to welcome you.

Last week, the Dementia Team joined in with Carers Week – a UK-wide campaign that recognises the incredible contribution of unpaid carers, raises awareness of the challenges they may face, and helps people access the support available to them.

To celebrate, our fabulous Activity Coordinators invited everyone to create a beautiful picture frame as a special gift for someone important in their life. The finished frames were absolutely wonderful, and it was lovely to see so much creativity, thoughtfulness and love reflected in each one.

We also had the opportunity to attend the Carers Health and Wellbeing Event hosted by Carer Support Furness, where we joined local organisations in sharing information and highlighting the support available for carers across our community.

If you are caring for someone living with dementia, or know someone who is, we'd love to help. To find out more about the support available in your area, please contact the Dementia Team on 01229 444407.
