Last week, Liv, our Beaver leader, was at Poacher International Jamboree. She joined Riddlesden Scouts as a leader and the junior poacher team as staff.

The event hosted over 10,000 young people for the 8 days and a further 2,500 junior members visiting for the day across 4 days. Young people had a wide array of activities from gliding to bushcraft.

It’s lovely to see young people trying new things and making new friends, a true reflection of what scouting is about. Parry (our beaver mascot) seems to agree!

We need a new member of our Beavers team! We really need to grow our team so that we can keep running activities after the Summer break.

You'd be joining a great team with loads of experience, and there's loads of support on offer so you can develop your skills and make sure you get loads out of it!

Whatever you're good at, and however much time you have to offer, you can use your skills doing something great with our team.

Drop us a DM or email Euan (details in the comments) to find out about getting involved, or share this with someone you think would be great!

Scouting in Barrow only exists because of our amazing team - but we need help. We’re all volunteers, choosing to spend our time planning games, tying tiny shoe laces, toasting marshmallows, and building skills in ourselves and our young people. But we have a long waiting list, and we can’t be resilient and grow our group without your help.

Now is the perfect time to think about getting involved yourself, before we start fresh in September! Whether you’re amazing with children or can keep things ship-shape behind the scenes, you can use your skills doing something great with our team.

Drop us a message or go to the comments for a chat about how you can have an impact 💪

Live from the England training camp ahead of Saturdays quarter final… oh wait it’s our Beavers!
Great to see Beavers celebrating the World Cup and practicing their football skills!

This Tuesday our Beavers visited Wellness at Greenacres Farm, a community farm that works with children and young people.

The Beavers met lots of animals like guinea pigs, runner ducks, chickens, goats and even a mischievous pony called Brian! 🐴

We learnt about habitats and diet (like how goats like to eat neckers 👀).

Massive thank you to Hillary and the team at Greenacres - hopefully see you again! wellnessatgreenacres

It’s National Volunteers Week! Everyone involved in keeping 1st and 7th Beavers, Cubs and Scouts running gives up their time for free to give our children and young people experiences they might not otherwise have, so this week is about saying a huge Thank You!

Without them we wouldn’t be able to do
what we do. Thank you to each and every one of you.

Very exciting to see our sections preparing for camp! 🏕️

While our Scouts were busy checking our group’s kit, our Beavers and Cubs were hard at work rolling sleeping bags, learning campfire songs and practicing pitching tents before we can put it all to the test this weekend.

Have you been on a scout camp before? Share your top tips with us! We can’t wait to show you what we’ll be getting up to.
