As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to talk about something many care experienced people experience quietly… loneliness 💚
Loneliness is not just about being physically alone. It can be feeling disconnected, unsupported, or like nobody truly understands your experiences.
Research and lived experiences continue to show that care experienced adults are more likely to experience isolation, especially during transitions into adulthood when support networks, relationships, and routines can suddenly change.
Sometimes the hardest part is not wanting to burden people.
Sometimes it’s feeling like everyone else already has their “people.”
Sometimes it’s simply not knowing where you belong.
Mental health is deeply connected to connection, community, and belonging - which is why spaces where people feel safe, welcomed, and understood matter so much.
At Future Steps, we know support is not always about big interventions. Sometimes it starts with a conversation, a coffee, a familiar face, or simply somewhere to go where you do not have to explain yourself. 🫶
This Thursday, our Care Experienced Hub is open at Nellie’s Coffee Bar for anyone who would like to come along for a relaxed evening of conversation, connection, and support.
