Last week, Paul, the ChemoHero Counsellor, completed an incredible fundraising walk, starting in Wembury, following the Two Moors Way, and finishing in Lynton 🤩 an amazing 102 miles!

Paul works at the wonderful Fern Centre at the North Devon District Hospital, which provides practical, emotional and wellbeing support for people affected by cancer and their families.

Four years ago, ChemoHero began funding Paul's counselling role to provide additional emotional support for people using the Fern Centre. During that time, Paul has supported hundreds of people, making a real difference to patients and their families.

The money raised from Paul's challenge will be shared between ChemoHero and the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity Fern Centre , helping both charities continue supporting people when they need it most.

Paul has already raised nearly £2,000, which is an amazing achievement. If you'd like to show your support, you can do so by visiting his fundraising page.

While on our errands last we visited Costcutter 14/20 Forches Avenue in Barnstaple to replace the ChemoHero collection pots on their tills, and we're delighted to say they contained £79.74.

Over the last few years, thanks to the generosity of their customers and the support of the team at the store, they have now raised an incredible £1,910.01 for ChemoHero. All from 2 collection pots. Amazing!!! 🤩

The 26th of August marks five years since we lost Lisa. 🧡

Five years without the person who started ChemoHero and whose kindness, determination and huge heart made all of this possible.

Lisa created ChemoHero from her own experience of cancer treatment. What began with her wanting to make things a little kinder for other people going through chemotherapy became something that has now touched the lives of so many people.

Five years on, her idea is still here. Her kindness is still being passed from one person to another, every time a Box of Kindness is given, every time someone is supported, and every time somebody chooses to do something kind in ChemoHero's name.

Those of us who knew and loved Lisa miss her enormously. There are so many moments when we wish she could see what ChemoHero has become and just how many people continue to be part of what she started.

🌸 OPEN GARDEN IN AID OF CHEMOHERO 🌸

Join us at beautiful Stone Farm in Bideford on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August, from 2pm to 5pm.

Explore two acres of wonderful country gardens, including colourful herbaceous borders, a Japanese garden, white garden, “hot garden”, dry-stone terraces, orchard, woodland meadow, walled garden and extensive vegetable gardens.

Yesterday, Rob welcomed Mark and Ed to ChemoHero HQ to say a huge thank you to NFU Mutual for choosing ChemoHero as a beneficiary of the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund.

NFU Mutual supports local charities and communities across the country, and we are incredibly grateful to have received an amazing £7,899 donation.

This generous support will help us continue to gift our Boxes of Kindness to people at the start of their chemotherapy treatment, as well as provide our Kindness Bags for cancer patients facing those unexpected trips into hospital.

A huge thank you to Mark, Ed and everyone at NFU Mutual for supporting ChemoHero and helping us continue to spread a little kindness when it’s needed most. 🧡💙
