ChemoHero is a North Devon charity gifting Boxes of Kindness to people starting chemotherapy, along with extra support including our Treat Trolley and counselling service.

From village fairs and sorting stock to packing boxes, filling Kindness Bags, and marshalling, our volunteers have been absolutely everywhere lately! 🙌 We want to give a massive shoutout to everyone who has given their time over this past month. We really couldn’t do it without your support.

This year, we are lucky enough to be the chosen charity for local business .

Last week, an incredible team from TCi dropped in to meet Rob and Lucy and pack boxes for patients about to start their cancer treatment. It was great to have them visit ChemoHero HQ and see exactly how the funds they raise will make a difference. 📦🧡

This week is National Volunteer Week, and today we want to celebrate heroes like Leah! Not only does she fundraise for ChemoHero, but she also regularly volunteers at our HQ. In this photo, Leah is holding the 4,000th box she packed with kindness earlier this year. 📦 🧡

This Sunday , Katy joins the start line of the London Marathon, carrying a story of incredible kindness, love and courage.

In April 2025, Katy’s mum sent her a simple text: *"Are you watching the marathon Luvvy?"* In that moment, Katy decided she was going to run the next one to give her mum a reason to keep fighting and a finish line to look forward to…

Tragically, Katy’s mum passed away in September, 2025. 🧡 While she won't be at the finish line in person, but we know she we be with Katy every step of the way along with the entire ChemoHero community cheering her on.

Katy is running to say thank you for the "Box of Kindness" her mum received at the Seamoor Unit. She saw firsthand the smile that box brought to her mum’s face during a a really tough time, and now she’s helping us ensure other families receive that same ChemoHero Kindness. 📦

Katy, you are a true Chemo Hero. We are so honored that you chose to support us at the London Marathon. 🧡🩵🧡

Tomorrow, Leo, Alfie, and Carrick are taking on the Newport Marathon. 🏃🏻‍➡️🏃🏻‍♂️‍➡️🏃🏻‍➡️

They are running in honour of Becky, Leo’s girlfriend’s mum, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Watching Becky face this battle with such incredible strength and positivity has put everything into perspective for the boys.

ChemoHero is looking for a new trustee to join our team.

Our trustees help guide the charity and support the work we do for people facing cancer across North Devon. As a small charity, trustees play an active role. They support events, share skills, and help us continue growing the support we provide.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with a financial background. Previous trustee experience is not required. We welcome expressions of interest from people of all ages and backgrounds.

ChemoHero was founded in 2014 by Lisa Wallis after her own cancer diagnosis. Although Lisa is no longer with us, her vision of supporting people through treatment continues to guide everything we do.

The trustee team meets monthly and works closely with the Operations Manager to help shape the future of the charity and continue Lisa’s legacy.

We want to say a huge thank you and well done to Ross, Callum, Thomas and Ryan, who all boxed at last Saturday’s Charity Boxing Night at The Big Sheep.

It was a brilliant event that supported so many charities. We were very lucky to have four fighters representing ChemoHero. They have trained for a long time, and we are in awe of their determination, dedication and bravery to step into the ring in front of a live audience.

Together, they have raised just over £1,200 for ChemoHero. This will help us continue to support people at the start of their cancer treatment.
