Another great week at St. John Cadets! 🚑✨

This week our cadets took part in drill practice, building confidence, teamwork, and discipline while sharpening their communication skills.

They also got creative by designing their own treatment centres, helping them understand everything that goes into planning and running first aid at events. From layout ideas to patient flow and equipment placement, the cadets showed fantastic teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the activity.

A brilliant evening of learning, leadership, and hands-on experience — well done everyone! 💚

As part of Network’s mission, we are committed to educating as many people as possible in basic first aid. In an emergency, the actions taken in the first few minutes can make a huge difference, and by equipping people with the knowledge and confidence to act, we can help give casualties the best possible chance of a positive outcome.

We were therefore delighted to be welcomed by the 1st Sticklepath Guides group for an evening of first aid training. The Guides were enthusiastic, engaged, and eager to learn valuable lifesaving skills that could one day help them support a friend, family member, or member of the public in need.

Throughout the session, they learned essential first aid techniques, asked some fantastic questions, and showed great confidence when putting their new skills into practice. It was inspiring to see such a keen interest in learning how to help others and make a difference within their community.

A huge thank you to the leaders and members of 1st Sticklepath Guides for their warm welcome and enthusiasm. We hope the evening has given them the confidence to step forward and help if they ever find themselves faced with an emergency situation.

To keep our Network running and continue providing vital first aid education within our community, we rely on the generosity and support of the public. Fundraising is an important part of our volunteers’ role, helping us to maintain our services and invest in equipment that enhances both our training and emergency response capabilities.

We were delighted to be welcomed by Affinity Outlet Devon, where we had the opportunity not only to educate members of the public in lifesaving first aid skills but also to raise funds for the Network. Events like these allow us to engage with our community, promote the importance of first aid, and generate much-needed support to purchase improved training resources and lifesaving equipment.

A huge thank you to Affinity Outlet Devon for hosting us, and to everyone who stopped by to learn more about first aid, chat with our volunteers, and support our fundraising efforts. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission of making our communities safer and better prepared for emergencies.

We recently welcomed Laura from , who delivered an informative session for our volunteers on what to expect during labour and birth, and the important role we can play as first aiders or bystanders in supporting those involved.

Following the session, Laura kindly provided us with a helpful written summary, simplifying and reinforcing the key information she shared with us throughout the evening.
