Last Thursday marked the end of our second baby reflex and massage course. It was such a privilege as always to be able to support these parents through the power of touch.

⚠️ An important read for all parents-to-be and new families.

When seeking support around pregnancy, birth, baby sleep, feeding or parenting, don’t be afraid to ask questions about the qualifications and experience of the person advising you.

Ask:

✔️ What qualifications do you hold?
✔️ Who awarded them?
✔️ Are they accredited?
✔️ Do you maintain CPD or a licence to practise?
✔️ Do you hold professional insurance?
✔️ Is your advice evidence-based and aligned with current NHS guidance?
✔️ When would you refer me back to a healthcare professional?

These questions shouldn’t offend a reputable practitioner. In fact, they should welcome them.

Whether support is paid for or free, parents deserve transparency, accountability and safe, evidence-based information.

The more informed we are as parents, the safer our babies will be.

It’s always lovely to feel appreciated, but even more rewarding is knowing that the support we’ve provided has made a real difference.

From antenatal classes and birth preparation to postnatal support and reassurance, being trusted to walk alongside families during such an important stage of life is a privilege I never take for granted.

Moments like this are a lovely reminder of why we do what we do. 💛
