Afternoon, everyone. We're happy to say we managed to get the box fixed faster than expected as we managed to find a way to use more of the flexible plastic to cover the door.

We've got it all installed, so residents who said they wanted to place some books in can now access the box.

Residents in the Athersley area might have noticed that the book box has been removed. Don't worry, it's all safe and sound.

After the window was broken on it, we have attempted to fix it with more flexible plastic, but it seems that isn't going to do the job and keep the books safe. So, we have removed it to put on a stronger, solid cover and will be returning it as soon as we can.

We want to thank the residents of the area and Athersley, New Lodge, Smithies - St Helens Community for bringing it to our attention. Fingers crossed it will be back in no time and stocked again with books for people to take and read (and hopefully swap out for others).

Have you visited School Street play area in Darton yet?

Through the Love Where You Live programme, the space has been updated with repainted play equipment, repaired surfacing and the addition of new swings and a seesaw, helping keep it ready for everyday play.

It’s a great spot for families to get outside, be active and enjoy some fresh air to start the week.🌿☀️

Please help keep the park in good condition by looking after the equipment and reporting any issues or damage.

Love Where You Live is helping us create a Barnsley that feels vibrant and welcoming.
