We are planning a fundraiser for Barnsley Hospice. For anyone that is lucky enough to not see first hand what Barnsley hospice do, I here are a few facts:

* Barnsley Hospice is a local charity providing specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people in Barnsley and support to their families and loved ones.
* It was established in 1994, meaning it has been supporting the Barnsley community for more than 30 years.
* The hospice supports people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, including cancer, heart and lung diseases, Parkinson’s disease and motor neurone disease.
* Hospice care isn’t only for someone’s final days. Barnsley Hospice can support people earlier in their illness, helping with symptoms and quality of life.
* Its services include a 10-bed inpatient unit, The Orangery support and wellbeing service, counselling and bereavement support, and medical support.
* The inpatient unit provides 24-hour, 7-day-a-week specialist care for people whose symptoms are difficult to control or who are approaching the end of their life.
* Patients and their families don’t pay for hospice services. The services are provided free of charge.
* Barnsley Hospice receives an annual NHS grant, but it still needs to raise around two-thirds of its running costs through fundraising, donations and other charitable income.
* In 2024/25, the hospice cared for 463 local people and their families through its various services.
* The hospice is a registered charity, charity number 700586.
* Barnsley Hospice is regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and its website states that it has an Outstanding rating.
* The hospice relies heavily on the Barnsley community—including volunteers, individuals, schools, businesses and community groups—to raise the money needed to continue providing care.

Unfortunately, at 7:50pm last night, in broad daylight, we were the target of an attack on our building by 6 males. They went to the effort of risking their wellbeing by climbing the fence, climbing on top of the container, jumping onto the roof and smashing one of the roof windows. Not only is this pure stupidity but it now affects the people who benefit from the community centre because the money it has cost to get the window fixed will be taken out of the funds raised for the Christmas fayre.

Worsbrough common community centre is a charity and relies solely on volunteers/bookings in order to remain open.

We have many photos and video evidence of this happening which has been forwarded onto the police. We also have a security system in place. We feel it was a targeted attack!
Some people just need to do better!

Good morning.
Unfortunately, due to people abusing the community centre, moving forward, ANY party booking will be subject to a £150 deposit. This will be returnable on inspection of the building after the event.
Smoking is STRICTLY prohibited in this building and it is also against the law!
If the building is not left as it was when the event started, there will be a cleaning surcharge deducted from the deposit. Any breakages/damages MUST be paid for. We will also require ID to confirm bookings.
It is very unfortunate that in recent months, people are abusing the building that has taken a huge amount of money and hard work to get the the standard it is at.

Today we were informed of this little beauty 😍

Did you know Worsbrough Common Community centre is run entirely by volunteers? All events and some weekly groups are organised and run by our dedicated volunteers who spend many an hour doing everything possible for the community centre.

From general running of the building to doing the decorating 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ to running our weekly cafe and the special events we do.

We would be lost without our volunteers.
Today we are feeling appreciated and thankful ❤️

Good morning. Unfortunately any bookings made from today will be subject to a deposit being taken. This will be returned on inspection of the building. We have spent a lot of hours and money making this building what it is today.
