There was an amazing opportunity today to learn the art of Batik.
So, what is Batik art you ask?
Most famously an Indonesia tradition, Batik is creating art using hot wax onto fabric and then using fabric dyes (Very similar to tie dying) but the wax keeps your pattern instead of using elastic bands for your pattern.

This creates a wonderful mesmerising eruption of colours merging into each other.

Our volunteers helped create some amazing art work which will be created into beauty intergalactic wings for festival on 21st - 22nd of November 5pm- 8:30pm.

Youth sessions this year focus on Trive.....our young people explored what it means to thrive, I was blown away by the knowlage our youth hold ❤️ most got sweaty as we had a party time doing some zumba 🥵 leaders were left behind as the youth danced on 💃🕺 creative expressions flowed as we built and created habits for birds, bees and butterfly's 🦋 and we finished up with a bake off cookie challenge 😋 sweet and tasty results.....looking forward to next week @ the carers Community Garden as we put our archery 🏹 skills to the test 😀 sessions are for anyone 8 - 16 and run from 3pm till 7pm thanks to Living Hope Mentors Cic and collaborators. This week's family sessions kicked off on Tuesday with a visit from a magic man and his monkey 🐒 lots of giggles . We also enjoyed the usual crafts and the kids made the most of the good weather getting out doors for some good old fashioned games. Tuesday we had a bage making workshop allowing the kids to be creative with designs 😀 the sensory tent was also a hit......another 4 weeks of provision and few spaces left. So if you want to get booked on for some family activities and fun to fill the holladays get in touch to book, you will be made most welcome 🤗🥳 Tuesdays amd Wednesdays at St George's 10.30 till 2.30pm 😊

Fancy getting outside with the kids and helping nature on your doorstep? Come along to this FREE event and plant some fruit trees at Locke Park, Barnsley on Sunday 2nd March.

Drop in anytime between 11am-1pm. As well as planting a fruit tree, you can explore the site with a tree treasure hunt, pot up your own acorn to take home and grow, and play some tree games!

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is organised by Kids Plant Trees, in partnership with Barnsley Council and kindly funded by South Yorkshire Woodland Partnership.
