Last Saturday we were delighted to spend time celebrating the incredible volunteers who make
Chipping Barnet Foodbank possible.

Every food parcel packed, every donation sorted, every warm welcome offered and every
conversation with a client is made possible by the dedication, compassion and generosity of our
volunteers.

Free Money Coaching Course in High Barnet

Money is on a lot of people’s minds right now, and we’re pleased to share details of a free, one-day money coaching course taking place locally.

Run by Christ Church Barnet and The Stable Church Barnet, with support from CAP - Christians Against Poverty UK , this course is open to anyone and is designed to help you feel more confident managing your money.

📢 We're hiring a Fundraiser! One week to go to apply!

Do you enjoy building relationships, bringing people together, and making a real difference in your local community?

We're looking for a warm, proactive fundraiser to help grow support for Chipping Barnet Foodbank. This is a hands-on role where you'll work with local businesses, schools, faith groups, community organisations, and individual supporters to help raise vital funds and strengthen the relationships that make our work possible.

💚 22.5 hours per week over 3 days
📍 Hybrid working
💷 £23,500 per year (£39,167 FTE)
📅 Intended start date: 1 September 2026

At Chipping Barnet Foodbank, we believe everyone should have access to the support they need. Alongside providing emergency food, we help people access advice and support that can improve their situation and reduce the need for crisis support in the future.

UCL and Chipping Barnet Foodbank have an ongoing research relationship which was highlighted at The International Global Determinants of Health and Wellbeing Conference hosted at last week and attended by our Advocacy and Campaign Lead, Bob Bevil.

At the conference Professor Nathan Davies, Head of Education at the Division of Medicine at UCL shared data from the longitudinal research study he has been conducting with Barnet’s food banks, including Chipping Barnet Foodbank. We are looking forward to welcoming Nathan and his students soon for the next phase of this important research.

Also presented at the conference was an academic poster by Efstathia Papada, Anastasia Kalea, and Nathan Davies entitled “Connecting Nutrition and Mental Health through Public Engagement in Food Aid Settings.” This research was undertaken at Chipping Barnet Foodbank and Euston Food Bank and involved the co-production of a publicly available nutritional information leaflets on the subject.

HAVE YOUR SAY WITH THE RIGHT TO FOOD UK COMMISSION!

The Right to Food UK Commission, launched in Parliament in November 2025, has been touring the UK collecting evidence about the experience of food insecurity in our communities with a view to mapping solutions to the challenge.

Last week the commission came to listen to the voices of North London. Our Advocacy and Campaign Lead, Bob, attended the meeting at Tottenham Town Hall to share evidence, information and data. The meeting was well attended with a very diverse audience given the opportunity to express themselves.

A HUGE thank you to the runners and volunteers!

Saturday 6th June marked the annual Oak Hill Park Run which is run in memory of the inspirational Maurice Francis and at which the runners and volunteers bring donations for Chipping Barnet Foodbank.

The run happened at the end of Volunteers Week, so we would like to thank all the Oak Hillers who brought food and the volunteers from both Oak Hill Park Run for organising the collection, and the volunteers at CBFB who collected it and weighed it in at 80kg.

That’s a wrap on Volunteers' Week 2026!

We had such fun capturing and celebrating our volunteers, and getting their personal takes on
what volunteering means to them.

foodbank. The work of Chipping Barnet Foodbank simply would not be possible without your
commitment, compassion and generosity.
