Come and join us fascinating ink exploration Workshop with a very talented calligrapher Gywneth Hibbetts.

This workshop will look at the different properties of sumi, acrylic, pigment and dye based inks for backgrounds, sketching, drawing and writing.
We will use sumi ink to create suminagashi (a Japanese marbling method) papers, which have soft. monochrome ripple type patterns, useful for collaging, backgrounds and other art projects. You will also learn some other decorative techniques with acrylic inks, and how to utilise the differences between waterproof and water soluble inks.
While these papers are drying, we will look at the different marks and lines that can be achieved with an artists dip pen, from delicate cross-hatching to bold splashy strokes. You will be guided through the process of making your own DIY nib to create expressive, inky lines.
